The Kannur Kendra of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was inaugurated by Mr. Justice V.S Malimath, former Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, in 1986. The Kendra started the kindergarten classes the same year.
The School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and has classes from L.K.G to Std XII. It prepares students for the All India Secondary School Examination (Std X) and All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Std XII).
According to Bhavan's educational philosophy, 'The ideal education should impart knowledge, shape character and mould the personality of the child'.
