SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) Mumbai recorded the highest ever ranking (#1 private B-school in the country, and #4 in the country behind IIM-A, B, and C) in the MBA Universe- ranking that was released recently. This is an influential ranking that all prospective students look at.
Key highlights from this year's rankings (as quoted on the official site):
1. IIM Bangalore is Ranked #1 B-school in India. It continues to hold on to its leadership position from last year when it had secured the #1 Rank for the first time in the 2022 survey.
2. Triple accredited IIM Calcutta has moved up the rankings to claim #2 rank, while pushing the much-celebrated IIM Ahmedabad to #3 rank as per MBAUniverse.com Rankings 2023.
3. A breaking news from the survey is that SPJIMR Mumbai has unseated IIM Lucknow to claim #4 position. For starters, its career outcomes data go ahead of XLRI, and all IIMs except ABC.
Bhavan's SPJIMR has been recognised as a 'pioneering school' with the highest 'Level 5' rating for its social impact and sustainability achievements. The recognition was announced in the 2021 edition of the Positive Impact Rating, or PIR, which was launched on June 17, 2021 at the United Nations PRME Global Forum. The PIR is a student-led ranking that reflects the positive social impact of the school as seen and evaluated by its students.
SPJIMR emerged as one of three business schools from India to feature in the rating. It is also the only school in the FT rankings to sit at the top of the recognition scale that moves up from 'progressing schools' (Level 3), to 'transforming schools' (Level 4) and 'pioneering schools' (Level 5) at the highest level. 'Pioneering schools' were described as those with "unique, sustaining global leadership progress in all impact dimensions."
SPJIMR was recognised for its innovative community-based actions, environmental and socially responsible culture and governance, and a strong teaching focus on responsible leadership.
The recognition for SPJIMR came on a global platform that saw participation from 47 schools located in four continents and 21 countries.
The PIR report said, "SPJIMR has mapped the recent work across the SDGs, showing community impact in water and sanitation, health, environment, energy alternatives, disaster management, food, agriculture, empowerment, education, and social entrepreneurship."
The report also named the 'Abhyudaya' initiative through which participants mentor underprivileged school children, the 'Ehsaas' platform for social sector organisations to showcase and sell their products and the sports and culture event named 'Aasra' that has participation from the differently abled.
It is an honour that NCC In charge of Bhavan's College Andheri, Capt. Malini Sharma, has been awarded Raksha Rajya Mantri Commendation Card given as a national award on Republic day in recognition for her dedication, sincerity and exemplary performance in the NCC. She is the only cadet from Maharashtra to get the award this year.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) acclaimed SPJIMR's Prof. Prem Chandrani as a winner in the category 'CA Educator'. The ICAI Awards recognises members who have demonstrated excellence and portrayed an abiding commitment to achieve heights as CA professionals. These awards seek to honour individuals who possess excellent skills, dedication, enthusiasm, leadership and the ability to deliver the best that we all strive to emulate.
