Amritsar Kendra
The 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated with immense patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan SL Public School, Amritsar, on August 15, 2026. The celebration was a vibrant amalgamation of patriotism, cultural splendour and a deep-rooted commitment to the values of unity, responsibility, and service to the nation.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial Flag Hoisting by the Chief Guest, Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, IPS (Retd.), MLA, and Guests of Honour, Rtn Anil Singhal (District Governor RI Dist. 3070), Dr Jasmine Kaur Gill (District Chairman IW Dist. 307) along with the management members of the school. The NCC cadets, Cubs Bulbul and Scouts & Guides presented a smart and disciplined parade, reflecting their commitment, coordination, and respect for the nation.
The cultural programme commenced with an enchanting Orchestra performance and a captivating PT Show presented by the students. A melodious musical presentation by the students of PD Kumar Memorial Gyandeep School, (a free school for the underprivileged) added warmth and grace to the proceedings.
A poignant and inspiring dance performance by Bhavan’s Muskaan School, (a school for special children), beautifully celebrated the spirit of inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunity.
The students presented a thought-provoking play on Civic Sense, highlighting the importance of cleanliness, responsible citizenship, respect for public spaces, and conscientious behaviour in everyday life. The celebration continued with a vibrant dance performance by Bhavan’s Saksham (vocational & rehabilitation centre for persons with disabilities). This was followed by a delightful Balvatika presentation by the tiny tots. The students further presented Patriotic and State Dances, celebrating India’s rich cultural diversity and regional heritage.
On this occasion, the eminent doctors — Dr. H.S. Nagpal, Dr. Amit Dhawan, Dr. Rohan Arora, Dr. Harpreet Kaur and Dr. Rohit Bahl —who rendered significant support in the successful running of Bhavan’s Amritsar Kendra’s latest service project, ‘Bhavans Health Care on Wheels’, were honoured for their remarkable contribution and dedication to social service. The event also witnessed the release of ‘Bhavan’s Darshan’ marking another significant moment of the celebration. This was followed by a Prize Distribution Ceremony, honouring the winners of various competitions. The achievers were felicitated for their exemplary performance, perseverance, creativity, and commitment to excellence.

Amritsar Kendra
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan S.L. Public School, Amritsar successfully hosted the CBSE Cluster XVIII Table Tennis Championship–2026 from July 31-August 2, 2026. The event featured 72 teams from 52 CBSE schools, with over 300 players competing in the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 boys’ and girls’ categories. The championship was inaugurated by Shri Avinash Mohindru, Chairman, Bhavans Kendra, Amritsar. The closing ceremony was graced by Mr. Vikas Mahajan, International Table Tennis Player, South Asian Games Champion and All India Electricity Board Champion who distributed prizes and inspired the participants.
Bhavans players excelled, with Rajveer Singh Bhatia winning Gold in the Under-19 Boys’ category and Satvik Sharma securing Silver in the Under-14 Boys’ category. The school also won First Position in the Under-14 Boys’ team event and Second Position in the Under-19 Boys’ team event.

His Excellency the Governor of Punjab, Hon’ble Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, flagged off ‘Bhavan’s Health Care on Wheels’, a mobile hospital, on July 11, 2026 at Bhavan’s Aashray, Amritsar. It is an initiative of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Amritsar, which marked a significant milestone. Addressing the gathering, Sh. Avinash Mohindru, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Amritsar, highlighted Bhavan’s commitment to education, healthcare, and social welfare, and shared the vision behind the mobile healthcare project. The mobile hospital, which will operate daily at designated locations to provide essential medical services to the needy, reflects Bhavan’s enduring commitment to compassionate community service.
Cultural Programme
Bhavan’s Kala Kendra Amritsar successfully organised its 121st Monthly Cultural Programme, ‘Khushboo Punjabi Geetan Di’, by Bhavan’s School faculty on July 19, 2026. The programme was presented by the school faculty and celebrated the rich heritage of Punjabi music and culture. The event was graced by Shri Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Amritsar as the Chief Guest. The event featured soulful renditions of popular Punjabi songs. The chief guest appreciated the efforts of Bhavan’s Kala Kendra and the school faculty in promoting Punjabi language, music, and cultural values. Shawls were presented to singers as a token of respect.

In a significant step towards restoring educational infrastructure in the flood- affected border region, Machhiwala, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Amritsar Kendra, under the leadership of Chairman Sh. Avinash Mohindru, inaugurated the reconstruction of Government Middle School, Machhiwala, near Ramdas, which was severely damaged during last year’s floods. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Amritsar is carrying out the project, with the approval of the Government of Punjab and the generous support of the Bhavan’s fraternity. The reconstruction project was formally inaugurated with the unveiling of the foundation stone plaque by Sh. Avinash Mohindru, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Amritsar Kendra, and Sh. Rajesh Khanna, District Education Officer, Amritsar, in the presence of his team, village representatives, education officials, and members of the local.

On the auspicious occasion of Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav 2026, a grand and historic event-1008 Kundiya Samashti Hanuman Chalisa Havan—was organised at the DAV College Sports Complex, Shastri Nagar, Amritsar. The programme themed ‘Chant Amritsar – Shant Amritsar’ aimed at promoting peace, harmony, and prosperity through collective chanting and sacred rituals. The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria His Excellency, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Swami Chidrupananda Ji, Head of Chinmaya Mission Noida, attended as the Guest of Honour. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh (Retd. IPS, MLA) was present as the Special Guest.
All distinguished guests were felicitated with due honour and respect including Priyanka Sharma (Senior Deputy Mayor), Kriti Arora (Counsellor), Dr Amardeep Gupta (Principal DAV college, Amritsar), Sh. Bakshi Ram Arora(Former Mayor). He also expressed gratitude to the devotees, volunteers, and participants for their enthusiastic involvement in making the event a grand success. In his welcome address, Shri Mohindru highlighted that this grand 1008 Kundiya Samashti Hanuman Chalisa Havan marks a significant and inspiring milestone in the 75-year spiritual journey of Chinmaya Mission.
Swami Chidrupananda Ji, in his enlightening discourse, stated that the Hanuman Chalisa is not just a hymn of devotion but a guiding force that provides direction to life. He urged everyone to adopt discipline, service, and positive values in life. In his address, the Hon’ble Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria appreciated such grand spiritual gatherings, stating that they foster positive energy, cultural awareness, and mental peace in society.
With the participation of thousands of devotees, the collective chanting of Hanuman Chalisa and the havan spread a powerful message of peace, progress, and prosperity. The entire atmosphere resonated with devotion, energy, and spiritual consciousness. Following the havan, students of Bhavan’s SL Public School, Amritsar, presented a captivating short skit based on the life and virtues of Lord Hanuman, which deeply moved the audience. The school management and teachers were specially appreciated for their creative and commendable efforts.
Awareness Session on Traffic Rules
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan organised an informative session on the topic ‘Awareness on Traffic Rules’ for the students of 10th, 11th and 12th std. on the school premises on May 5, 2026. The session was conducted by Sub Inspector S. Daljit Singh Traffic Incharge, Amritsar and S. Salwant Singh ASI, Amritsar.
ASI S. Salwant Singh stated that following traffic rules is the responsibility of every citizen. He highlighted that road accidents are increasing rapidly nowadays, mainly due to the negligence of traffic rules. Since these rules are meant for our safety, it is the duty of every citizen to follow them.
S. Daljit Singh addressed the students on modern-day cyber issues. He cautioned students against creating fake IDs, sharing inappropriate content, and clicking on unknown links, as these may lead to financial fraud and hacking of personal data.
The session created an interactive and engaging environment where students gained practical knowledge about road safety and digital responsibility.
Widow Ration Pension Distribution Programme
The 287th Monthly Widow Ration Pension Distribution Programme was organised on June 7, 2026, at Bhavan’s S.L. Public School under the aegis of Chinmaya Mission Amritsar. The initiative provides a monthly ration worth Rs. 1,500 to 250 underprivileged widows. The programme was attended by eminent social activists and dignitaries who appreciated the humanitarian efforts of the school. Chairman Sh. Avinash Mohindru highlighted the programme’s 24 years of dedicated service. He also announced two new initiatives: Bhavans Healthcare on Wheels, a mobile medical service offering general and dental healthcare in underprivileged areas, and a Value-Based Scholarship Programme for Classes VIII–X to promote moral education. The active involvement of teachers and students through voluntary service reflected Bhavan’s spirit of social responsibility and compassion.
Amritsar Kendra
The students of Bhavans SL Public School, Amritsar delivered an outstanding performance in the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination, achieving a 100% pass result. Ayushi Kumari and Anshuman Gupta brought glory to the school by securing 98.8% marks. Three students scored above 98%, 18 students scored above 95%, and 64 students secured more than 90% marks. In addition, 54 students achieved 100 marks in different subjects.
Amritsar Kendra
A mass wedding ceremony for 16 underprivileged girls was organised on April 19, 2026 in the premises of Bhavan’s under the guidance of the managing committee. This event was a collaborative effort of Bhavan S.L. Public School, Amritsar Centre and Rotary Club Amritsar Midtown. Padma Shri awardee Shri Puran Chand Wadali graced the occasion with his dignified presence and blessed all the newlywed couples and wished them a happy and prosperous married life. By the year 2026, approximately 720 couples have been united in marriage through the efforts of this school committee.
Amritsar Kendra
A one-day CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Competency-Based Assessment, under the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF 2023), was successfully conducted at Bhavans SL Public School, Amritsar. The workshop aimed to enhance teachers’ understanding of modern assessment practices in accordance with CBSE guidelines.
In the first session, Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Oberoi elaborated on the objectives, principles, and curriculum development of the National Curriculum Framework. She engaged participants through various interactive activities and emphasised the importance of holistic development and inclusive education. The second session was conducted by Ms. Nitika Sahni, who emphasised the significance of incorporating moral values into the curriculum as an essential aspect of students’ overall development. The workshop proved to be highly informative and interactive.
CBSE Board Examination, 2025-26 Results
Shaurya and Kamakshi jointly secured the first position by scoring 99.4%, while Sargun and Naman Verma secured the second position with 99.2% in Class 10 CBSE Board Examination, 2025-26. The Class 10 students of Bhavan’s SL Public School brought great pride to the institution by achieving a 100% pass result in the CBSE Board Examination (2025–2026). A total of 256 students appeared for the examination, out of which more than 100 students scored above 90%. The students also delivered outstanding performance by scoring 100% marks in various subjects.
Amritsar Kendra
Bhavans SL Public School, Amritsar organised a grand Graduation Ceremony and Prize Distribution Function for the students of the Bal Vatika on March 14, 2026. The event marked an important milestone in the academic journey of the young learners. Through this ceremony, the second batch of students moving from the Pre-Primary Wing to the Primary Wing formally graduated. The excitement and joy of the students were clearly visible as they stepped forward towards a new phase of their academic journey.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Ms. Priyanka Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor, Amritsar.
The programme included a delightful welcome dance by the little performers followed by soulful presentations including the morning prayer “Subah Savere” Geeta Gyan, Ganesh Vandana and thematic performances on Lord Krishna, Veer Hanuman, Diwali and Jungle Theme which captivated the audience. Students also presentedan entertaining humorous Qawwali highlighting various aspects of children, parents and teachers in a light-hearted manner.
Students of Class II appeared on stage wearing graduation gowns and caps symbolising the completion of their Bal Vatika journey and the beginning of a new phase in primary education. On this occasion, meritorious and all-rounder students from Nursery, KG, UKG, Class III along with academic achievers of different grades were honoured with certificates and encouraged to continue striving for excellence. The Chief Guest, Ms. Priyanka Sharma in her speech highly appreciated the efforts of the school and stated that in the holy city of Amritsar, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan functions like a Gurukul, instilling strong values and shaping responsible citizens.
Geetanjali - A Concert by Doctors
Under the direction of Bhavan’s Management Committee, the 117th monthly cultural programme, ‘Geetanjali- A concert by Doctors’ was organised with great enthusiasm on March 22, 2026 at Bhavan’s SL Public School, Amritsar. S. Harminder Singh Jogi (Distt Governor Nominee R.I. Distt 3070) graced the programme as the Guest of Honour.
The programme included flute recitals and various melodious performances. Bhavan’s management Committee honoured the singers for making the evening memorable. S. Harminder Singh Jogi highly appreciated the performance of doctors and thanked the Bhavans management for organising such musical events.
Workshop -Promoting Mental Health and Wellness
A Capacity Building Programme on ‘Promoting Mental Health and Wellness Among Students’ was conducted on March 17, 2026 at Bhavan’s SL Public School under the guidance of the management committee. Teachers from various subjects actively participated in the event.
Ms. Guneet Arora, Vice Principal of Spring Dales School and Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Oberoi, Principal of Amritsar Public School graced the occasion as the keynote speakers and added great value to the programme.
The session began with great enthusiasm and teachers were engaged in creative activities by focusing on life skill development and real life examples. All the teachers actively participated in the workshop through role plays and expression of ideas, gaining meaningful knowledge and insights. It was emphasised that the ups and downs of life teach us how to live and it is through enduring challenges that our true potential is refined. Ultimately, it depends on us how we maintain and nurture our mental health.
