Amritsar Kendra

Under the auspices of Chinmaya Mission Amritsar, the 281st Chinmaya Widow Ration Pension (Monthly) Distribution Programme was organised on December 7, 2025. The programme was graced by the special guests Prof. Dr. Arvind Bhardwaj (NIT Jalandhar), Ms. Reeta Sharma (Past District Chairman, Inner Wheel District 307, Amritsar), and Mr. Varun Nivetia (Proprietor, S.V. Traders—Cashew Dealers, Amritsar), whose presence enhanced the dignity of the event.
In his address, Shri Avinash Mohindru, President of Chinmaya Mission shared that this noble service has been continuing uninterrupted for the last 24 years and that ration worth Rs. 1500 per month is provided to the widow sisters. He added that for the education of their children, Bhavan’s Gyandeep School (free school) and Bhavan’s Gandhi Computer Centre (free computer centre) are always ready to support them. He also urged them to remember God in all circumstances and introduced all the special guests. Bhavan’s teachers, students of Bhavan’s Study Group and staff members participated in the ration distribution.
Wushu Federation Cup—2025

Jasnoor Singh Sandhu and Ekamjeet Singh of Bhavans SL Public School, Amritsar put up a remarkable performance in the 9th Punjab State Wushu Federation Cup—2025, held in Lovely Professional University from 5th to 7th December 2025. By bagging a gold medal Jasnoor Singh Sandhu from Class 11 secured his place for Nationals to be held in Chhattisgarh whereas Ekamjeet Singh from Class 8 bagged a silver medal.
Punjab State Special Olympics

Students of Bhavans Muskaan School (A Special School for ID, CP and AUTISTIC Children) a unit of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan SL Public School, Amritsar, delivered an outstanding performance at the 26th Punjab State Special Olympics. The event was organised by the District Special Olympics Association at Jalandhar, Punjab, from December 12 to 14, 2025.
Four students represented the school with great determination and sportsmanship. Anushka won two gold medals in the 100m Track Race and Mini Javelin, along with a silver in Power Lifting. Eknoor Kaur secured two silver medals in the 25m Track Race and Softball Throw, and a bronze in Bocce. Priya earned a gold in the 25m Track Race, a silver in Softball Throw, and a bronze in Bocce. Hunarpreet Kaur added to the tally with a gold in Shot Put and two silver medals in the 100m Race and Power Lifting.
Amritsar Kendra

Bhavan’s Kala Kendra organised 111th Kala Kendra programme i.e. grand Hindi dance, drama and musical presentation based on the life and events of Sufi Saint Bulle Shah on October 4, 2025 on the premises of Bhavan SL Public School. S. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar (IPS Commissioner Police, Amritsar) graced the event as the chief guest and S. Surinder Singh (PCS Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Amritsar) was present as the guest of honour. The play was directed by Guru Rajeshwari Sharma (Kathak dancer) and Shri Ajay Sharma (Theatre performer). In the wonderful presentation, the life philosophy of ‘Bulle Shah’ was depicted. The play also highlighted the importance of detaching oneself from the world and surrendering completely to true love without pretension to attain God.

Under the direction of Bhavan’s Management Committee, the 109th monthly cultural programme, ‘Anmol Yaaden’ was organised with great enthusiasm on August 25, 2025 at Bhavans SL.Public School, Amritsar. In this colourful musical evening, Mr. Prashant Naseri (Play back Singer from Mumbai, A World Record Holder), Ms. Indu Bala (Indian Idol Fame, 2012) mesmerised the audience with their melodious performances. Mr. S Gurpreet Singh Bhullar (IPS Commissioner Police, Amritsar) was present as the Chief Guest and Mr. Narendra Sharma (Senior Town Planner) and Mr. Sodhi graced the programme as special guests.
Sri Guru Nanak Devji Prakash Utsav

Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 556th birth anniversary was celebrated on the premises of Bhavans SL Public School Amritsar with great devotion and enthusiasm.
Sri Jagdish Lakhani (Executive Secretary and Director General Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mumbai) Sh SG Aney (Trustee and member Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mumbai) and Dr. Dinesh K Daftary (Trustee Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mumbai) graced the occasion as chief guests. Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh IPS (Retd.) and Rtn. Dr. PS Grover, Sushree Ruhi Arora (Counsellor), principals from All India Bhavans Schools, the members of Chinmay Mission Amritsar and senior citizens from Bhavans Aashray Amritsar also marked their presence in the event. The occasion began with the pious chanting of Vaahe Guru followed by Shabad Kirtan which created devotional ambience. The event ended with Guru Ka Langar served by students and teachers of the school.
XVI All India Principals Conference

Under the aegis of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Amritsar Kendra, the ‘All India Conference for Principals of Bhavans Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools’ was organised from November 6-9, 2025 at Bhavan S. L. Public School, Amritsar on the theme “Expanding Horizons Without Losing Roots”. The inauguration of the event was conducted via video conference by His Excellency Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh Union Territory. In his address, he highlighted the significant role of teachers and appreciated the way Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan continuously promotes Indian culture, traditions, and educational values.
The event was further graced by distinguished guests including Shri Jagdish Lakhani (Executive Secretary & Director General, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai), Shri S. G. Aney (Trustee & Member, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai), Dr. Dinesh K. Daftari (Trustee, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai), Swami Mitrananda (Head, Chinmaya Mission, Chennai), Shri. Madhukar Malhotra (Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chandigarh) and Shri. Pauly Menachery (Director, Bhavans Shikshan Bharati, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai), whose esteemed presence added grandeur to the ceremony.
Each day was marked by mesmerising performances by the students and numerous thought-provoking discussions by various experts and dignitaries. Certificates of participation and mementos were presented to all the principals for their meaningful participation in the XVI All India Principal’s Conference in Bhavans. The conference concluded with great success, igniting a renewed spirit of unity, inspiration, and commitment among all Bhavans principals to lead with wisdom and purpose.
Amritsar Kendra

Tanishka, a student of Bhavan’s S.L. Public School, Amritsar, gave an outstanding performance in the CBSE National Fencing Championship held at Delhi Public School, Rudrapur (Uttarakhand) from 30th September to 5th October.
In this competition, she emerged victorious by winning the gold medal, bringing pride and glory to the school.
Basketball Tournament

The school basketball team showcased an excellent performance at the 69th School District Basketball Tournament, securing the third position. The tournament was organised at the School of Eminence, Mall Road, on September 18-19, 2025.
The Under-19 Girls’ team displayed great skill and determination, with some members performing exceptionally well. These included Siya Sethi (Class 11), Purvika (Class 11), Harpal (Class 10), Ayushi (Class 9), Ginni (Class 10), Noor (Class 10), Muskan (Class 10), and Falak (Class 12).
Talk by Swami Avyayananda

Under the auspices of Chinmaya Mission Amritsar, Pujya Swami Avyayananda (Head, Chinmaya Mission New Delhi & Singapore) delivered informative talks for students of Bhavan’s SL Public School on October 15, 2025. The topics were ‘Fall and Rise’ for students of grades 8, 9, 11 and 12, and ‘What is God’ for students of grades 5, 6, and 7. Swamiji beautifully explained the ups and downs of life through the courageous and inspiring story of an elderly man. The overall message he conveyed was, “Learn to get up after falling. The one who falls also rises. No downturn is the last moment of life; rather, it is where the ups and downs begin. Therefore, we must not stop in life.”
On the topic ‘What is God?’ he explained the concept through relatable examples—just as a pot made from mud returns to mud after it breaks, and gold ornaments when melted turn back into gold, everything in this universe originates from one source and ultimately merges back into it.

Bhavan’s S. L. Public School, Amritsar, has always been committed to the holistic development of its students. Proving this once again, the students showcased an excellent performance in the CBSE Rope Skipping Competition held from September 11–14 at Sage International School, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh).
The event witnessed the participation of 300 students from 76 teams across different categories. Bhavan’s S.L. Public School’s Under-19 Boys Team delivered a stellar performance, winning the Gold Medal and securing the first position, thereby bringing laurels to the school.
The winning team comprised Krishiv Khavaria (Class 7), Ashish Sharma (Class 9), Tanmay Berry (Class 10), and Lavish Thukral (Class 11).
All India Ranging Table Tennis Championship

A student of Bhavan’s S.L. Public School, Amritsar, brought laurels to the institution with an outstanding performance in the All India Ranging Table Tennis Championship held in Delhi from September 8 to 14.
Satvik Sharma clinched the silver medal in the national-level event, which witnessed participation from nearly 3,000 players across the country. His achievement marks a historic milestone for the school, as it is the first time a Bhavan’s student has earned such prestigious success at this championship.
In recognition of his remarkable performance, the Punjab Table Tennis Association awarded Satvik a cash prize of Rs. 31,000, while ADTTA announced Rs. 11,000 and TTFI added Rs. 4,600. Sports brand Puma also felicitated him with a complete kit.
Krishna Janmashtami Celebration

Bhavans S.L. Public School celebrated Janmashtami with great devotion and reverence on the school premises on August 13, 2025. On this occasion, Pujya Swamini Vimlanandaji (Chinmaya Mission, Coimbatore) was the honourable Chief Guest, and Shri Rakesh Keshav (President of Chinmaya Mission, Ludhiana) was the Guest of Honour respectively.
Through a vibrant cultural programme, the students of the school immersed everyone in the devotion of Lord Krishna. Students of Bhavan’s Muskaan School (School for Special Children) presented a beautiful dance performance.
National Championship in Power Lifting

Bharat Bhandari, a student of ‘Bhavan’s Saksham’—a Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities has made Amritsar proud by winning the National Championship in Power Lifting. He represented Punjab at National Olympics Games for Special Children held at New Delhi from September 23-27, 2025 where he outclassed all others to bag the gold medal. Now he will represent India in International Olympics Games for Special Children in Chile (South America).
Bharat who has cortical atrophy developed interest in the game of power lifting. He did not allow his disability to discourage him. This interest gradually inspired him to take part and win in local level competitions.
He participated in State level Games at Ludhiana and qualified for the National Games held at New Delhi where he won the Gold Medal to emerge as National Champion. Enthusiastically lauding his achievement, Bharat was accorded a warm welcome at Ludhiana and Amritsar railway stations by the President of Distt Special Olympics Association and Distt Sports Director.

Under the guidance of the Bhavan’s Management Committee, the 107th monthly cultural programme ‘Sunehre Nagme’ was held with great enthusiasm on June 22, 2025, at Bhavans SL Public School, Amritsar. In this vibrant musical evening, the ‘Singers of Company Bagh Groups’ captivated the audience with their melodious performances. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh IPS (Retd.), currently a Member of the Legislative Assembly. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Bakshi Ram Arora (Former Mayor, Amritsar), Mr. Sudarshan Kapoor (Chairperson, Local Committee), and Ms. Ruhi Arora (Counsellor). This programme is organised monthly by Bhavan’s Kala Kendra with the aim of promoting cultural awareness and providing a platform to talented artists. The singers of Company Bagh Groups included Arun Vyas, Narendra Uppal, Sanjay Dhawan, Dr. Sangeeta Uppal, Ravi Gupta, Amarjit Singh, Rinku, Parampreet Singh, Narendra Singh and Gurbaksh Singh.
Sur Sangam

Under the guidance of the Bhavan’s Management Committee, 108th monthly cultural event, ‘Sur Sangam’, was held with great enthusiasm on July 27, 2025, at Bhavan’s SL Public School, Amritsar. This vibrant musical evening featured melodious performances by the school’s music team, captivating the audience with their soulful renditions. Dr. Rajat Oberoi (PCS, Director Land Record, Punjab) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The sequence of timeless classics continued with “Gaata Rahe Mera Dil...”, creating a mesmerising atmosphere. The group performance that followed received a thunderous applause, echoing throughout the hall.
Amritsar Kendra

The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated at the premises of Bhavan’s SL Public School, Amritsar on June 21, 2025. On this day, students were introduced to various yoga asanas and were also informed that yoga is the best way to lead a healthy, stress-free, and long life. Additionally, 50 students and some teachers from the school participated in a yoga session at Gandhi Ground, promoting the message “Do Yoga, Stay Healthy” and striving to spread it to every household.
Amritsar Kendra

Bhavan’s Sh. PD Kumar Memorial Gyandeep School, an evening institution dedicated to providing free education to underprivileged children, achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate in the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 10 examinations 2024-2025. It is noteworthy that for the past 22 years, Gyandeep students have been provided with free uniforms, free books, free shoes and free mid-day meals by the Bhavan’s management committee. During festive occasions such as Diwali and Lohri, the school further strengthens its sense of community by distributing sweets to students. Additionally, students from Classes 8 to 10 are offered free computer courses. Some meritorious students are also granted scholarships by Bhavan’s School for their studies in Classes 11 and 12. Every year, all Gyandeep students also showcase their artistic talents in the annual art exhibition organised by Bhavan’s School.
With outstanding dedication, the students showcased their abilities by securing a remarkable 100% result. All students have successfully passed with first division marks. Anjali, with 90%, Sneha with 89.2%, and Muskaan with 87% have brought great honour to the institution by securing exceptional marks. Out of the 15 students of Gyandeep School, 7 students scored above 80%, 4 students achieved more than 70%, and 3 students obtained over 60%. Similarly, in the Class 5 board examination, out of a total of 17 students, Ishita scored an impressive 95.4%, Krishna Sharma obtained 94.8%, and Hargun Kaur achieved 94.2%, while all remaining students secured 85% marks. In the Class 8 board examination, out of 26 students, Kirandeep Kaur scored 92.7%, Tanpreet scored 92.4%, and Kiran Bedi earned 91%, making the school proud of their outstanding achievements.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan SL Public School, Amritsar and Rotary Club Amritsar, Midtown, through collective efforts, organised the marriage ceremony of 20 needy daughters on April 20, 2025 on the premises of Bhavan’s. This programme was organised under the guidance of Bhavan’s Management Committee.
This year, till 2025, more than 700 couples got married. On this occasion, Padma Shri Puran Chand Wadaliji honoured the event by his esteemed presence and blessed all the couples and wished them a happy life. Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh (IPS Retd. MLA) attended the event as chief guest. This programme was presided over by Shri P.S. Grover (District Governor RI Distt. 3070). Shri Anil Singhal (Distt. Governor Nominee RI Distt. 3070), Shri Vijay Sehdev (Distt. Governor Nominee (D) RI Distt. 3070) were present as special guests. The students and the music team of Bhavan’s presented a grand presentation of the Punjabi programme. After this, all the beautiful couples performed the ritual of Jaimala.
Chief guest Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh while addressing the gathering praised the working of the managing committee of Bhavan’s School Amritsar and said that the work of contributing to the upliftment of every section of the society by serving it selflessly is undoubtedly commendable. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singhji also blessed all the couples and said that marriage is a sacred sacrament and it is the duty of every couple to make it successful. Chairman Sh. Avinash Mohindru congratulated and blessed the newlywed couples. MM Goyal in his speech said that marriage is not only about the joyful moments it is also about standing by each other during the difficult times. The managing committee of the school and the distinguished guests gave blessings and gifts to the newly married couples.
Pahalgam Ki Peeda
Bhavans Kala Kendra under the guidance of Management Committee of Bhavans SL Public School organised the 105th Monthly Cultural Programme ‘Sur Shraddhanjali’ (Pahalgam Ki Peeda) on April 27, 2025. The theme of the programme was to pay tribute to those innocent souls who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The Chief Guest of the event, S. Surinder Singh PCS (Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Amritsar), graced the occasion with his presence, enhancing the programme’s dignity. Mr. Vinod Sharma, the coordinator of Bhavans Kala Kendra prayed for the eternal peace to the innocent souls who tragically lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack. S. Surinder Singh PCS, the Chief Guest, felt deeply touched by the soulful performances, offered deep condolences to the innocent lives lost in the attack. In his speech, he gave a message to unite as one, beyond any religious or political differences. Chairman Sh. Avinash Mohindru addressed the audience by saying that the truth of life is that anything can happen at any moment. This attack in Pahalgam proves that wicked and immoral people act without purpose. Patience is necessary, and we should answer them in their own tone. This is a moment for introspection and courage. A floral tribute was offered by everyone in memory of the innocent lives lost in the Pahalgam attack.
Inspirational Talk

Revered Swami Chidrupanandaji, delivered an inspirational address to the students (from Grades 9 to 12) at Bhavans SL Public School on April 29, 2025. The topic of the session was ‘Pahalgam Ki Peeda’—An Introspection.” In his speech, Swamiji highlighted that the Pahalgam tragedy has profoundly impacted the hearts of all Indians. He urged everyone to stay united and not be misled by confusion or negative remarks. He inspired students to take pride in India’s culture and shared Lord Krishna’s teachings from the Mahabharata about the virtues of a wise and strong ruler. Swamiji also outlined three vital responsibilities that every Indian must uphold during challenging times:
1. Begin each day with a prayer for the safety of our soldiers, their families, and the prosperity of the nation.
2. Don’t post or share anything negative on social media.
3. Post only what uplifts the nation and honors its heroes.
Through these valuable words, Swamiji reminded everyone that these simple yet meaningful actions define the role of a responsible citizen.
Bharat Scouts and Guides Inauguration Function

Under the guidance of the Management Committee of Bhavan’s, Bharat Scouts and Guides Inauguration function was organised on the premises of Bhavan’s S.L. Public School on May 2, 2025. Shri Onkar Singh, State Organising Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides Punjab; Shri Bishop PK John, Chairman of St John Senior Secondary School: Sardar Haramritpal Singh, State Headquarter Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides; Sardar Dharminder Singh, Distt Secretary of Bharat Scouts and Guides Amritsar; Sardar Gurpartap Singh, District Secretary Bharat Scouts and Guides and Principal Govt School Kairon; Sh Prashant, Distt Association Bharat Scouts and Guides were the Chief Guests for the occasion.
The students of the school welcomed the guests with a beautiful dance performance. Shri Onkar Singh presented the registration certificates to the management of Bhavan’s and members of School Scouts and Guides. He gave detailed information about Bharat Scouts and Guides and numerous activities undertaken by them. He also said that the purpose of the movement is to contribute to the all-round development of the individuals. He added that the purpose of coming to school is to learn three things i.e. Duty to Self, Duty to Others and Duty to God.

On April 7, 2025, Bhavans SL Public School Amritsar joined hands with Honourable Shri Gulab Chand Kataria’s (His Excellency, the Governor of Punjab) six-day-long foot march against drug abuse under the direction of Bhavan’s Management Committee. The school management along with approximately 500 students from classes 8-10 and their teachers showed strong involvement by participating in ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’ (War against Drugs) urging the youth and society to unite for this awareness drive initiative launched by the Punjab state government. Director Dr. Anita Bhalla and Principal Mrs. Sonia Sehdev flagged off the rally. The students of Bhavans SL Public School holding placards with messages like ‘Say no to drugs’, ‘Life does not rewind’, Stop drug abuse’, Quit drugs, choose life’, and ‘Your health is your wealth’ started their march from Circuit House, proceeded through Rialto Chowk and Mall Road, and concluded at Company Garden. The event also witnessed enthusiastic participation from various representatives of social organisations and other administrative officials.
Bhumi-Pujan & Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Amritsar Kendra marked a significant milestone with the Bhumi-Pujan and Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the Senior Secondary Wing of Bhavan’s
SL Public School II (Islamabad) on March 30, 2025. The ceremony was graced by the presence of eminent spiritual leaders Pujya Acharya Pradyumnji Maharaj (Mukhya Updeshak Patanjali Yoga Peeth, Haridwar) and Pujya Swami Chidrupananda (Head, Chinmaya Mission, Noida). Shri Jagdish Lakhani (Exec. Secy. and Director General, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai) and Dr. Jasbir Singh Sandhu (MLA) were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh IPS (Retd.) MLA also presided over the function. The ceremony began with a traditional havan yajna by the spiritual leaders followed by lighting the pious lamp along with presentation of bouquets to the esteemed guests by Bhavan’s management members. The event commenced with a divine Ganesh Vandana followed by a group song of Sarvadharma Prarthana and Gita Path by approximately 800 students from Bhavan’s. Students presented colourful dance performances showcasing various aspects of Indian culture. Attendees were mesmerised by the students’ performance and applauded with great enthusiasm.
The Chief Guest and Guests of Honour laid the foundation stone, symbolising progress and future aspirations. The Chairman unveiled the inscription on the foundation stone marking the beginning of the new project. A commemorative edition of Bhavan’s magazine ‘Utkarsh’ was also unveiled. A video message by Swami Tejomayanandaji and Swami Swaroopanandaji was displayed, wherein all the management members were congratulated for this grand success. Dr. Jasbir Singh Sandhu in his speech highlighted the importance of Bhavan’s in shaping the future of the younger generation. Shri Jagdish Lakhani appreciated Bhavan’s management and staff for their dedication towards fulfilment of their commitments towards students. Pujya Swami Chidrupanandaji threw light on the real meaning of education and appreciated teachers for their valuable contribution. Pujya Acharya Pradyumnji Maharaj extended his blessings and greetings for the ceremony and for this noble endeavour. Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh prayed for the success of Bhavan’s family and for the completion of this project.
