Hyderabad Kendra
Mock Fire Drill
The school organised the fire safety awareness programme on October 1, 2024, to educate students on the importance of fire safety measures. A comprehensive PPT on types of extinguishers and safety measures were shown. Under the supervision of Station Fire Officer Shri P. Sai Reddy and firemen, a mock fire drill was organised simulating an emergency situation, and fire extinguishers were operated for various inflammable materials like wood, petrol, kerosene, etc.
Educational Tour
An Educational trip to Bengaluru and Mysore from October 2 to 5, 2024, offered a holistic educational experience to 101 students of Std. 8. Ten teachers accompanied the students. They visited Bengaluru, Mysore, Philomena Church, Science Museum, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace and Nandi Temple. The tour concluded with students reflecting on their enriching experience and lasting memories.
Delhi Tour
As many as 103 students from Std. 9 and 11, accompanied by 10 teachers, were taken on an educational tour to Taj Mahal, the Wagah Border, Qutub Minar, Agra Fort, Science Museum, the Golden Temple and a few places in the north from October 8 to 14, 2024. It was a memorable journey owing to the inspiration and learning that it brought forth.
Community Insights
On October 25, 2024, students of Std. 7 visited Joy Foundation Society, an Old Age Home in Madhapur. This community service initiative inspired the students to give their best performance. The students presented a cultural programme comprising dance and songs. They shared their refreshments and also assisted them in making Diwali Greeting Cards. They also organised games and entertained the old people. By the end of the day, they had shared an emotional bond with the people of the old age home.
Students also visited Government Primary School, Masthan Nagar, and distributed stationery and food material there. The visit aimed to inspire young students to ‘give back to society’.
Scholars Badge Day
Scholars Badge Day was held on October 24, 2024, in the school premises. Mr. Ganesh Reddy, proprietor of Green Geo, gave away prizes to the winners of various Inter-school and Inter-house Competitions, recognising their exceptional achievements in sports and other extra curricular activities.
Fun with Science
The tiny tots enthusiastically took part in the ‘Fun with Science’ activities, observing their teachers blow air in balloons, flying kites, blowing paper balls, filling air in polythene bags. These activities helped students understand the concept of ‘Air’, which was conveyed using a practical approach.
Musical Programme
In order to support the visually challenged, the school organised a Musical programme on October 25, 2024, in the school premises. Singers from TEZAS Foundation for Disabled entertained the young audience. The audience, comprising of students from Pre-primary class to Std. 12, were quite cheerful and they encouraged the gifted artistes.

Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign
Honouring the father of the nation, as a prelude to SBD – 2024, the annual Swachhata Hi Sewa (SHS) fortnight was organised from September 14 to October 2, 2024. Students took an active part in Swachhta Saptah and the cleanliness drive, formed human chains, and performed Nukkad Natak to promote this cause. The students enthusiastically participated in the ‘Ek-Ped-Maa-Ke-Naam’ activity and cultural programmes that emphasised the significance of cleanliness.
Visit to WOW Unit
As a part of the CBSE Science Exhibition project titled “Sip, Save, Style: Reinventing Milk Packets for Sustainable Living,” students from Std. 8 visited the Wealth Out of Waste (WOW) Unit in Chengicherla on October 1, 2024. The visit aimed to enhance their understanding of waste management, particularly the segregation and recycling of plastic and paper waste. The opportunity provided the students with first-hand exposure to the recycling process.

Dasara Celebrations
Dasara was celebrated in the school on October 1, 2024 in the beautifully decorated school premises. The students spoke about the significance of the festival mentioning the medicinal values of the flowers used and chanted slokas on Goddess Durga. The girls danced around ‘Bathukamma’, the beautiful flower arrangement synonymous to the festival. Folk songs echoed around the campus as the school choir sang in praise of Goddess Durga. The programme culminated with a traditional group dance.
Joy of Giving Week
The school celebrated Joy of Giving week from October 16–23, 2024. During the course of the week, students presented skits and stories on kindness and about the famous social workers. A PPT on the impact of kindness and significance of the day was shared.
Concluding the weeklong event, the students visited Government Primary School, and Joy Foundation Society, an old age home in Madhapur, that aims to promote educational support and community involvement. During the visit, the students interacted with the beneficiaries, distributed essential items, and participated in various activities.
Entrepreneurship Fest and Student-preneurship Competition
The School hosted Entrepreneurship Fest & Student-preneurship Inter School Competition 2024 in the school premises on October 26, 2024. The event provided an invaluable platform for students and teachers to collaborate and showcase entrepreneurial skills. The fest featured an Inter-School Student-Preneur Competition, where students presented impressive business ideas, reflecting their creativity and understanding of practical challenges. Additionally, Senior Secondary students organised stalls that highlighted their skills in marketing and management, offering valuable, hands-on business experience.

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic zest and great jubilation on August 15, 2024. The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. Chakravadhanula Manikyamba, an Emeritus Scientist with CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) and one of the grandparents of the school. The students’ cultural programme featured performances of patriotic songs and dances, showcasing their love and patriotism. The Chief Guest gave away the prizes won by the school in INTACH and TCS quiz, Financial Quiz and other inter-school competitions.
National Space Day
The Government of India declared August 23 of every year as ‘National Space Day’ to commemorate the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. The proposed theme of the National Space Day 2024 is ‘Touching Lives while Touching the Moon—India’s Space Saga’. The school planned a number of activities—a Painting competition for students on the topics ‘Chandrayaan 3’ and ‘Viewing the Earth from Space’, in which 128 students participated. Space Mania Quiz was conducted by the senior students, in which 46 teams from different classes participated. Eminent Scientists from ISRO, Ms. Runjhun Chandra and Ms. Shafali Tandon were invited as the Chief Guests. They shared their experiences with the students, and during the interaction, they clarified the curious queries of the students with apt answers. All the prize winners of different competitions received certificates from the guests.
Raksha Bandhan
Raksha Bandhan was celebrated on August 17, 2024. A special assembly was held where students spoke about the significance of the festival, sang songs, and performed dances to honour this cherished bond. The entire school community, including students, teachers and staff, participated in tying rakhis, offering aarti, sharing sweets, thus creating an atmosphere filled with festivity. Students made a difference by tying rakhis to the tree trunks, pledging to protect and conserve Mother Nature and promising to spread this message to others. Didis (Sisters) from the Brahma Kumaris organisation visited the school and tied rakhis (the sacred thread) to all the teachers so as to spread the message of love and to bind everyone with the love of the Almighty.

Filmit India- A Film Making Workshop
The FILMIT India-Film Making Workshop was held on August 12, 2024 at Gitanjali Devashray School, Secunderabad. Around 90 students from 22 schools participated. Five students of Classes 7 and 8 from Bhavan’s Vidyashram, took part.
Varalakshmi Vratham Celebrations
Varalakshmi Vratham was celebrated in the school on August 14, 2024 to seek
the blessings of Goddess Varalakshmi. The entire school was decorated aptly to suit the occasion. Students, dressed in traditional attire, spoke on the significance of the festival, sang devotional songs and presented different cultural programmes to pay rich tributes to the Goddess. Students dressed up as Ashtalakshmulu, conducted themselves with divinity and dance on Mahalakshmi Ashtakam was presented gracefully.
National Sports Day
The National Sports Day was celebrated on August 29, 2024 to pay rich tributes to the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. The students were told about the importance of ‘Sports’ and the relevance of National Sports Day and legendary sports heroes of the country during the Special Assembly. Students of all the classes were a part of the various sports activities like Pyramids, Gymnastics, Aerobics, Taekwondo and Karrasamu. Students displayed their skills with great enthusiasm and zeal. The children understood the value of playing games and the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Bagless Day
‘Bagless Day’ for the students was held on August 31. Activities were planned class-wise. It was a joyful day for the students and they had hands-on experience working on various planned activities. Activities for Class 6 students included, ‘A Talk on Health and Nutrition- an informative session conducted by Dr. Lakshmi, Consultant Neonatologist and Pediatrician, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Kondapur, Hyderabad on the importance of health and nutrition.
Students created vibrant collages depicting their understanding of health and wellness, showcasing their creativity and knowledge. Students of Class 7 were guided to write four-line poems on ‘The endangered species of India.’ They wrote poems and drew pictures of animals using their creativity in the specified time slot. Students of Class 8 had a session by Dr. Nishanth Sinha, Pulmonologist who addressed on inculcating healthy habits among students for their holistic well-being which would lead to achievement of scholastic excellence. The students prepared healthy food without fire like vegetable/fruit salads, sandwiches and chaat with sprouts.
The students made Gratitude Cards for Teachers expressing appreciation for their teachers, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.
Super Teacher Webinars
Super Teacher webinars for the month of August included ‘Inclusive Education’ on August 4, ‘Teacher Standards’ on August 11, ‘Effective Parent-Teacher Communication’ on August 18 and Emotional Intelligence for Students on August 25. The sessions are led by Mr. Vasudevan Natarajan, CEO of Super Teacher Edureforms Pvt. Lts., who shared valuable insights on all these topics. These sessions were attended by many teachers of the school.
Awareness About Diseases
An awareness programme was conducted by GHMC officials in collaboration with Radio Jockeys from the 95 Mirchi Hyderabad on August 29, 2024 about the diseases spread by mosquitoes and the measures to be taken to prevent the spread of diseases. The experts held detailed talks on the diseases and their transmission. They gave measures to prevent mosquito breeding and tips for self-treatment. Students of the Vidyashram had an interactive session with the RJs, who used gimmicks for conveying the message effectively. The measures taken in school to tackle the mosquito menace were enumerated by the students.
Self-Awareness-Session
Self-awareness session for the students of Class VII was held by the students of Class 10 and 11 on August 30. It was unique and one of its kind where the senior students formed into groups and addressed the youngsters on topics like- adolescents and the challenges that they face, health and hygiene and bullying.
Civil Services
An intellectual session to inspire and motivate the future leaders of India to take up civil services as a profession was organised on August 31, 2024 for the students of classes of XI & XII. The programme was graced by the Chief guest for the occasion –Ambassador Dr. B. M. Vinod Kumar I.F.S (Retd). Detailed information about Civil Services, UPSE, the list of subjects offered, pattern of the exams, posts offered, and the pride and dignity one can enjoy once selected, were explained in detail, upholding the ethics to be followed.
Mock Parliament Competition
Mock Parliament Competition was held on August 9, 2024, at Bhavan’s Atmakuri Rama Rao School in which six schools participated. Around 20 students of senior classes from the Vidyashram took active part and won laurels. Sahasra Reddy Veeraballi of Class 8 was awarded the ‘Best Portfolio’ Prize, for her exceptional research and presentation skills. Aadhya Mandal Reddy of Class 7 won the ‘Best Debater Award’ for her outstanding debating skills.

Tata Consultancy Services organised ‘TCS Inquizitive Quiz’ at BVB Hyderabad Kendra Auditorium on August 14, 2024. Around 600 students across 100 schools in Hyderabad participated in the prestigious event and 15 students participated from Bhavan’s Public School (Vidyashram), Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. After the preliminary round, 8 students qualified for the Final round and Animesh Panigrahi, of Class 10 was one of them. In the Finale, Animesh Panigrahi won the quiz with 175 points in the lead. He was awarded a trophy and a gift voucher worth 20,000 rupees and qualified to the semi-finals of the TCS Inquizitive Quiz to be held at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai on November 30, 2024. The school too was awarded a trophy.
The Union Bank of India conducted ‘U-Genius – 3.0’, an inter-school quiz competition, on August 17, 2024 at Sevalal Banjara Bhavan, Banjara Hills. Around 1600 students from different schools in Hyderabad region participated and 4 teams
(2 students per team) participated from Bhavan’s Public School (Vidyashram) Jubilee Hills. In the ‘Final Round’, the team comprising of Animesh Panigrahi and Dhruv Methukupally of Class 10 emerged as winners and received ‘Winners Trophy’ and certificates. They qualified for the ‘Zonal Finals’ to be held at Visakhapatnam. The school too received a trophy.

Shruthi Mummidi, a student of Nursery class from Bhavan’s Atmakuri Rama Rao School, received the ‘India Book of Records (IBR) Achiever’, a certificate from the India Book of Records that is affiliated to the Asia Book of Records and follows the Asian protocol of records, for her exceptional talent in identifying flags and naming
183 (UN-recognised countries) and recalling the capitals of 28 states of India. This child prodigy can also recite 12 shlokas and 9 Vemana Padyalu, sing the National Song of India and can also sing Krishna Bhajans. Shruthi Mummidi received an appreciation letter from IBR on January 25, 2024.

Mast. Animesh Panigrahi of Class IX received National Championship in Mind Wars Spell Bee India 2024 competition conducted by ZEE Mind Wars, held at New Delhi on January 29, 2024. Eight students from all over India participated in the National Grand Finale and Mast. Animesh represented the Southern Region and won the National Championship. He was awarded Championship Trophy, Certificate and a cash Prize of Rs.1 lakh.

A school team from Bhavan’s Public School (Vidyashram), Jubilee Hills, comprising Animesh Panigrahi (Class 9), Sutej Reddy (Class 9) and Arnav (Class 8) bagged the first prize at the fifth edition of the Times Inter School Quiz Competition 2023-24. 144 teams comprising 9000 students from 72 city schools participated in the quiz competition presented by WOXEN University. Bhavan’s Public School’s team was awarded a cheque for Rs.1 lakh on January 18, 2024.

The Annual School Exhibition was organised on December 28, 2023, in Bhavan’s Public School (Vidyashram), Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. The theme was ‘Science and Technology for Society’.
Dr. C.V.S. Kiran, Director R&D and Strategic Initiative, Skyroot Aerospace, Dr. Nishanth Singh, Pulmonologist, Continental Hospitals, and Sri Prabhakar, Vice President, Telangana Science Fair Academy (TSFA) and Resource Person for Telangana State Bureau of Indian Standards, were ‘Guests of Honour’ for the special day.
The students of Std. 2 and 11 participated enthusiastically and made the projects with a problem statement, explaining the solution for the same, which impressed everyone. The judges, parents, grandparents and students of neighbouring schools visited the exhibition and commended the creative, innovative ideas presented by the budding Bhavanites.
Science Workshop
A Science Workshop was held on November 21, 2023, by Bhavan’s Hyderabad Kendra. As many as 32 Science teachers from NIRD (National Institute of Rural Development), Bhavan’s Atmakuri Rama Rao School (BVBARRS) Bhavan’s Vidyashram and Bhavan’s Public School at BHEL participated in a workshop conducted by Smt. Sreedevi Subramaniam, HOD, Science Dept. of Bhavan’s Public School, Jubilee Hills (BVBPSJH), on the topic, ‘Assessment and Evaluation’. Many teachers expressed the view that making question papers became easier after listening to the speaker. Also, Smt. Prasanna Lakshmi, a Teacher from BVBARRS conducted a workshop for the teachers on the topic ‘Experiential Learning’, which had offered insights into the methods of teaching. Overall, it was an excellent opportunity for the junior teachers to interact with the senior teachers and the subject experts and enrich their teaching skills.
Math Workshop
Bhavan’s Hyderabad Kendra organised a Math Workshop as a part of an In-House Training Programme for mathematics teachers of four Bhavan’s schools under Hyderabad Kendra, on ‘Misconceptions in Mathematics’ and ‘How to improve slow learners in Mathematics’, on December 16, 2023, with Smt. C. Anuradha and Shri. V. Nagendra Reddy as resource persons.
Instances of misconception and how to help children overcome them and how to help slow learners was extensively discussed through a PowerPoint Presentation. Participants had many opportunities to share their experiences. Working models and activity cards on various topics were shown to the participants. The workshop was informative and well-structured.
Munshi’s Birthday Celebration
On December 30, 2023, Kulapati Munshi’s Birthday was celebrated at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Hyderabad Kendra, bringing together the academic community of the four Bhavan’s schools.
The event hosted by BVBARRS comprised of a kaleidoscope of artistic expressions, featuring a Welcome Dance paying homage to Munshi’s timeless ideals, a ‘Nukkad Natak’ vividly portraying Munshiji’s dream of collective progress, while the ‘Burrakatha’ skilfully encapsulated the essence of his life. A melodic rendition of a song, ‘Jayaho Bharathiya Samskruthi’ added to the cultural extravaganza, enriching the celebration further. It is noteworthy here to mention that the songs, the nukkad natak and the burrakatha were penned and composed by the teachers of Bhavan’s Atmakuri School. The event included the chanting of Vishnu Sahasranamam, a spiritual homage to invoke the Lord’s blessings.
The programme was covered and telecast by the T.V. channel ‘V6’.
