Title : Shakespeare on the Crossroad of Indian Civilisation
Author : K. B. Paranjape
Pages : 83
Availability: Currently out of stock.

About the book:

This is an interesting little book showing how the great sage Mudgal and the great English poet-dramatist Shakespeare have both very perceptively analysed the human mind and indicated ways to strengthen it for success and happiness in life.
The book is written in the form of a dialogue between Mudgal and Shakespeare in the presence of Ashwatthama of the Mahabharat, who represents humanity, as he is deathless. The subject of the discussion is so arranged that the reference to a story in the Mudgal Purana corresponds to a play written by Shakespeare. Together they teach how mental balance can be achieved through mental discipline. As the title of the book suggests, the glory of the Indian civilisation has lain in the conquest of the mind for raising man from humanity to divinity, and Shakespeare has shown through the memorable characters in his plays the obstacles the mind has to overcome in this ascent.
