Title : Jayashankar Sundari and AbhinayakalaIt is the biography of late Shri Jayashankar Sundari and is an account of the life of an epoch making man of histrionics and his art.
Jayashankarbhai was initiated into theatre when he was hardly ten years old.
He came to Bombay and started creating history. After being on the stage for nearly half a century, he retired but took to spiritualism and meditation.
Jayashankarbhai was a well known illustrious person of Gujarat who was a celebrated writer, actor and director. He was awarded the President's award for Excellence in Nirman and Digdarshan by the Central Akademi of the
Government of India for his contribution. An important period of his career was from 1901 to 1923 where he was associated with the Bombay Gujarati Natak Mandali. After he retired from the Mandali he gave honorary services to the Nat Mandal and the Gujrati Vidya Sabha between the years 1949 and 1965. He
was awarded the Ranjitram Suvarna Chandrak in 1954 and was felicitated in 1967 with a Tamra Patra,a Dupatta and a cash award by the Gujarat Rajya
Sangeet Nrutya Akademi. In 1971 he was awarded the Padmabhushan for his contribution to the Gujrati stage.
