Bhavan’s Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya, now a pioneer institution in the twin cities was founded by Brig. M. K. Rao (Retd.).
With grants from the Andhra Pradesh Government, the Army, Navy and the Air force, a few generous donors and twenty five acres of land, also allotted by the Government, the school commenced on 15th June 1974, on a very humble note.
The first thirty students of the school were accommodated under three terms borrowed from the Army.
It functioned under the Ramakrishna Seva Samithi till 1989 when it was merged with the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan with the blessing of late Swami Ranganathananda, the President of Ramakrishna Mutt, the advice of Bharat Ratna Sri C. Subramanyam and the help of Sri Nani Palkhiwala, eminent Jurist.
