Genesis
Bhavan's Rajaji International Institute of Public Affairs and Administration (RIIPAA) was started in December 1977.
Enhancement of the quality of governance and administration through the enrichment of the substance and process of Parliamentary Democracy in India and the Developing World is the mission of the Institute.
The Institute is located in its own spacious campus 'Vishwaniketan' inBolarum, Hyderabad.
Aims
(i)Catering to the training needs of legislators at all levels, non-government personnel, persons in public life and future parliamentarians;
(ii)Bridging the communication gap between elected representatives and specialists;
(iii) Opening the Institute's Programmes to other countries for strengthening democratic ideals.
Objectives
(a) To resuscitate and foster ethical and human values in public life;
(b) To promote education and training among the youth intending to take up a career in public affairs and administration;
(c) To undertake analytical studies and research on issues of current importance and concern in policy fomulation;
(d) To promote dissemination of information and communication in the field of public affairs; and
(e) To render consulting assistance to public institutions and governments.
Programmes
The Institute attempts to achieve its aims and objectives by periodically organising seminars, workshops, conferences and short-term training programmes for legislators, administrators and specialists, on public policy and constitutional and democratic processes and procedures.
It also conducts policy and applied research and evaluation studies on matters of public interest, and on functioning of democratic institutions.
It also provides consultancy services to government departments on various aspects of policy, organisation and system.
