Established in 1950, the Prakashan Mandir, the Publication Division is by far one of the most important odd Constituent Institutions of the Bhavan. Kulapati Munshiji significantly christened in as the ''Book University''. The principal aim in the words of Munshiji, ''is to publish books
and periodicals which would serve the purpose of providing higher education.''
The Department publishes books of religious, spiritual, philosophical, and cultural values and research. It also publishes several series, such as the General series, Gandhi series, History series, Bharatiya Vidya series and Singhi Jain series.
The Department has also brought out books in Indian languages like Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam as also in foreign languages such as Catalan, Dutch, German, Polish and Japanese.
The Bhavan has so far published over 2000 titles and over 30 million copies sold.
