A Message from Swami Ranganathananda

My prayerful greetings and soulful good wishes for the Rama Navami number of Bhavan’s Journal.
I am touched that this special number has been blessed by several Saints and Sages of Modern India like Sankaracharyas – Poojya Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal and Poojya Sri Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal of Kanchi Mutt, Poojya Sri Bharati Teertha Swamigal of Sringeri Mutt, President of the Divine Life Society, Swami Satchidanandaji and several leading scientists like Dr. Raja Ramanna, Dr.R. Chidambaram, who have contributed their articles.
I am also deeply touched that this special Rama Navami Number will be first consecrated at the Lotus Feet of Lord Venkatachalapati at Holy Tirupati and also to Lord Kapaleeswarar and Goddess Karpakambika at Holy Mylapore, Chennai, before being formally released to the public on the auspicious Rama Navami Day – 2nd April, 2001.
It is in the fitness of things that the pious scholar and ideal public servant Shri R.Venkataraman, Former President of India and presently President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will preside over the release function of the journal in Chennai.
All our deeds are devoted to the God Almighty. This is India’s age-old tradition. It is most appropriate that the Bhavan continues to adhere to this wholesome tradition right from its inception, 63 years ago.
India’s two Immortal Epics Ramayana and Mahabharata – are the collective wisdom of India through the ages. They embody the ageless, ever-young Message of India that is Bharat. We in India today need to be inspired by this important utterance of Sri Rama: Janani janmabhumisca svargadapi gariyasi - ‘Mother and Motherland are far superior to heaven’.
