God Humanised
Srimat Ramayana opens a world of values for us. The protagonist is God humanised. The concept of divinity and the concept of human excellence meet at this point.
Ramayana portrays the Lord with reference to demi-gods, demons, human beings, birds and beasts. In each of these contexts, He excels as the saviour and master. He can kill a ten-headed Ravana on the one hand and in sheer gratitude perform the funeral of a vulture king on the other. He stands for righteousness and adherence to values in the face of the direst circumstances. To Him what matters is Dharma for which He will sacrifice anything, even his dearest wife. He is sacrifice incarnate. This great epic has seascapes, landscapes and warscapes, civilisation, brotherly love and brotherly hatred, machination and straight-forwardness, crime and punishment, revenge and forgiveness, all elaborately portrayed and sensitively depicted as in real life itself.
