According to me, Ram is the soul of India. We use the word ‘Ramrajya’ without understanding its true meaning and depth. ‘Ramrajya’ is an ideal democratic society. The soul of Ramrajya is the absence of competition and candidature. All the four brothers were the inheritors of the empire, but none of them was a claimant or candidate. It is an ideal democracy in which rightful claimant is not a candidate to power. Even Bharat who is forced to rule puts Ram’s ‘Sacred Sandals’ on the throne of Ayodhya and looks after the administration with utter detachment as if he was just a trustee or representative of Ram. He is not a king in his own right. Ramayana on concept of Ramrayja is a philosophy of sacrifice, duty and absence of fight for Power.
