Hailing from an orthodox, conservative yet artistic family having strong religious roots, my upbringing has been that of devotion not only around me but also within me. With the kind of serene atmosphere and surroundings, the frequent chanting of Rama Nama always seemed to ring in my ears. My grandmother would instill in my mind and make me realise the aesthetic qualities of Rama and explain his glory from the Ramayana slokas. It was sheer ecstasy to listen and an experience to cherish which I feel to this day.
To me Ramayana is not just an ageless, immortal epic. Its contents, ethos, values, principles, relevance to mankind and adherence to Dharma, I feel, has no parallels anywhere, anytime, any place on earth.
