The famous poet Maithili Sharan said:

“Who were we, what have we become, and what shall we now become
Let us get together, and think over it.”

After independence, our achievements have been many sided. Shri A. P. J. Abdul Kalam - in a recent speech in Hyderabad has listed our Achievements since India became Independent.
·We are the First in Milk production in the World.
·We are No. 1 in Remote sensing Satellites.
·We are Second largest producer of Wheat.
·We are the Second largest producer of Rice.
·We defended our Country against incursions from other Countries - mainly Pakistan - not once, not twice but thrice.
·We have produced our own indigenously developed Atom Bomb.
These are not small achievements, and we can be proud of them. However, a lot more has to be done. We cannot rest on our laurels.
We have yet to achieve equal position, if not superior, to other Developed Nations of the World;
Our Students go to U.S.A. or Europe for higher studies, Why? It is because of our inferiority complex, first and foremost, and secondly lack of such Higher Studies in our country.
It is the duty of our Industrialist and Businessman to make up these deficiencies, which they can, if they set their mind to it, and which they must.
