I have always worked for an India that is economically strong, where basic needs of people are met by a strong economy and responsive governance, where merit & effort are encouraged, and every one, irrespective of income, has an opportunity to realize his potential. In the next 20 years we can abolish our blights of poverty & want by encouraging our enterprises and enterprising people.
We should take the best from our past and build on it. We should recognize our current failings and correct them. A society confident of itself, its identity and values but positive towards change.
A humane society, open and plural. Dialogue seeking and non-violent, but capable of articulating and protecting its interests. A democratic and meritocratic society.
At the end of it all, we need not be the most powerful country in the world. To be economically strong, free from want, nurturing our talent, being a civilization that attracts people to its values, are more desirable outcomes.
