Started in 1948, Bhavan's Kala Kendra is devoted to the development of Indian dance, drama, music and other performing arts. Over the years, the Kala Kendra has acquired the distinction of being one of the few centres in the country striving to promote and develop amateur talent in various fields such as dance, drama and child theatre. The Bhavan's air-conditioned auditorium, Kanji Khetsey Sabhagriha, provides the Kala Kendra with ideal facilities for its activities.
The Kala Kendra organises cultural programmes of various kinds. It also arranges lecture-cum-demonstrations on the various art forms.
Activities during the year
Natya Shikshapeeth (Actor Academy)
The Natya Shikshapeeth teaches basic acting and direction for stage, TV and films.
The 10th year inauguration of Natya Shikshapith was held on January 15, 2001.
The May Vacation Shibir for Children
The May Vacation Shibir for children, which was started on May 1, 1996, is very popular among parents and children.
Children are trained in Yoga, General Knowledge, Dance, Drama, Art and Craft.
And a cultural programme is staged by the children on the last day. |
