With the start of every session the busy and hectic schedule, classes, activities, exams and functions each have their own charms, fears and frolic. But still there is something that every school looks forward during each session and that is the Annual day Programme.
The beam of laughter, the tears of sorrow, the hard work, appreciation and criticisms and then the final countdown begins for the most awaited day.
On the 30th of January 2006 we crossed another milestone - it was the School Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony. Having received our affiliation we were encouraged to turn on the new leaf in our calendar of events. The dignitaries for the evening was the President of the Ceremony, Dr. Pratap Chandra Chunder- Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan , Distinguished Chief Guest Mr. M.L.Meena- Deputy Chairman of Kolkata Port Trust, Special Guest Mr. S.R.Ghosh-the Vice President of HPL, Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Sri. K. V. Gopalkrishnan and Smt Parvathi Gopalkrishnan, Joint Director Prof. Subramanian and Principal of Kolkata Bhavan's School - Dr. Anandita Chaterjee and the Principal of Bhavans Haldia - Mrs Shubhra Chaterjee.
The lighting of the lamp by the Chairman and other dignitaries marked the beginning of the evening's programme. The students were honoured with prizes for various academic and non academic activities. The Chairman enlightened us with his valuable words. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries too shared their thoughts and encouraged us with challenging words. Our Principal Mrs Subhra Chaterjee emphasized that our school not only offered the best in academics but also encouraged an overall development of the student through various extra curricular activities conducted and taught by her talented and capable teachers. The programme was highly appreciated by every single person and indeed we are proud to have another feather added to our cap of success.
The cultural programme began with a dance recital performed by the students of class Seven. Attired in saffron and red the dances illuminated the stage while the audience watched with rapt attention. The children of the preparatory classes performed a musically choreographed dance number on a fascinating theme of friendship between puppets and human children. The curtain rose to reveal the "andarmahal" of a palace as the play entitled "Cream Doll" began. It was a performance par excellence. Students dressed in regional costumes danced to the tune of regional melodies. They enkindled the love for our motherland in our hearts. Finally they waved at the audience with tri-colors singing "Sare Jahan Se Achha, Hindustan Hamara". One of our dear student Chandrani Bhattacharya of Class eight came centre stage with the white pigeon, the bird of peace on her wheel chair with the help of her fellow classmate Harika. Chandrani is suffering from Osteo Genesis Inperfecta a very rare disease, and her presence made the final moments of the programme specially poignant. Our mentor, the Principal of our School Mrs. Subhra Chaterjee concluded the programme with the vote of thanks
After the grand success of our Annual day celebration we at Bhavans Netaji Subhash Chanra Bose Vidyaniketan are gearing up for yet another exciting event. We have a number of projects lined up, all of which will bear the stamp of novelty. Nothing can stop us right now……. Our journey has just begun.
