Like every year Lady Haldia spruced herself up to host her favorite Haldia Utsav. With enduring religiousness she has been performing her task for years, this year being the 12th anniversary. The Utsav is a festival of gaiety, mass sentiment and an inner zeal to project her success story to the outside world. People from far and near places flock to Haldia during the 12 days of celebration.
The Haldia Utsav committee organized the fair on the Helipad grounds of the township from the 15th of January to the 26th of January 2006. The chairman of the committee MP Sri. Lakshman Seth worked tirelessly to make this fair a success.
On the 15th of January the speaker of the Lok Sabha Mr.Somnath Chatterjee was invited. Besides the innumerable stalls and fun rides, flower exhibition, food stalls, health centers which included homeopathy and aryurvedic medics, science and book fair was all part of this mega event.. The entrance gate of the fair was sponsored by Dishari and was in the shape of a huge Dinosaur; several other gates were decorated and made the place look attractive, for the cultural programme five separate stages where built this year for various programs conducted simultaneously.
Among the many institutes that participated in the “Education Fair” called the “The Knowledge City” our School Bhavans Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Vidyaniketan had also put up a stall. We displayed craft items, greeting cards models, charts, photographs all prepared by the students. Bhavans publications for displayed too.
People flocked the bhavan’s stall and were impressed to see the enthusia,m of the students and teachers. Bhavans happened to be the only school in the fair the rest being colleges. We received much apprectaion from one and all including Sri Lakshman Seth who was over whelmed to see the beautiful work and the zeal of the students. All wished us for a “BIGGER and “BETTER” next time and that’s what we are looking forward too – a grand “Next Time”.
