Independence Day Celebration

On August 8, the Bhavan London Centre celebrated India’s Independence day with a glittering array of invited guests which included India’s new High Commissioner Shri Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, The Mayor of Hammersmith and Fulham Councillor Andrew Johnson and renowned musician Chevalier Padma Vibhushan Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna.
Chairman Shri Maneck Dalal OBE announced that all three of the distinguished guests had
accepted invitations to become Patrons of Bhavan.
Shri Dalal welcomed another long-standing friend of the Bhavan – Mr. Mathew Carrington and Lord Bagri. Mr. Dalal also thanked supporters of the Bhavan including Air India, the Arts Council of England and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The Mayor, Councillor Andrew Johnson, conveyed greetings from Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
The evening concluded with a cultural performance which featured several compositions by Dr. Balamurali Krishna and was compered by Smt. Parvati Nair.
