London Kendra
40 years of Bhavan
The London centre of Bhavan started in 1972 as a small and modest home for India's rich and classical traditions. Forty years later, it has become the largest institute for Indian arts and culture in the UK, synonymous with creativity talent, passion and dedication.
To mark forty glorious years of service to music, dance and Indian art as a whole, the Bhavan presented some of its most talented performers in a programme titled 'Aagaami' the future, on March 17, 2012.
A troupe of 65 performers including 45 vocalists, instrumentalists and percussionists as well as 20 dancers took to the stage and enthralled the audience with their performances. The show put up by the present students, alumni and teachers presented a glimpse of the immense talent at the Bhavan.
One of Bhavan's most successful students who performed on this day, Hari Sivanesan, a veena player, also took the stage at the Royal Albert Hall last year. Several Bhavan students like Akram Khan, Pirashanna Thevarajah and Nina Rajrani have become professional artistes.
