On the occasion of World Red Cross Day on May 8, 2012, Punjab Red Cross, Chandigarh, organised a function in which more than 30 schools in the region participated. Various competitions like Quiz, Painting etc. were held for school students. 22 students of Bhavan's S L Public School, Amritsar took part in the programme and won several prizes for the school.
The school was also given 4 awards of Honour for the tremendous activities conducted by the school under the supervision of Principal Dr. Anita Bhalla, such as the Junior Red Cross Model School and for the donation of Rs.31,000 as maximum JRC share. The secretary of Punjab Red Cross, Shri A. B. S. Brar gave the award to the students and the Principal.
The students of the school also enacted a short skit titled 'Mera kya kasoor' on May 10, 2012 in which they highlighted the hopes as well as fears of women, while touching on social evils like child marriages, dowry system etc. which are prevalent even today while concluding that women have to take strong steps to empower themselves.
