Inaugural speech by the Chief Guest Brig. D. V. Singh.

Baldarbar - the Mega Children's Drama Festival and Drama Competition, the brainchild of Hon'ble Chairman Shri Banwarilal Purohit, was organized by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra, at Bhavan's Bhagwandas Purohit Auditorium, Civil Lines, Nagpur, from 1st December to 5th December 2016.
The object of organising the competition was to encourage and promote creativity, originality and courage among students to do roles not only on the stage but later in actual life whichever they chose to adorn. The competition was also to enhance and enable the students to develop holistically.
The festival was inaugurated by Brigadier D. V. Singh, Commandant, Brigade of the Guards Regimental Centre, Kamptee. Dr. Smt. Sunanda Sonarikar, Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra presided over the inaugural function. The Chief Guest for the Valedictory and Prize Distribution Ceremony was Shri Mukund Wasule, actor (Film & Drama), and Shri K. H. Deshpande, Sr. Advocate, Member, Executive Committee, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra presided.
The themes for the Baldarbar varied from issues related to Adolescence, National themes viz Child Labour, Health, Patriotism, Cleanliness, Environment, Discipline to Student's Stress. Broad spectrum was given to enable the participating schools to dwell well on the topics.
The plays were judged by renowned artists Shri Anil Palkar, Smt. Pranali Raut and Smt. Shweta Deshpande. Shri Samir Pandit, the Coordinator of Baldarbar, gave his valuable guidance which helped the event in becoming a grand success.
Bhavan's schools also made their mark in various categories viz Lighting, Sound Effects, Script Writing, Direction, Acting (Female) and Acting (Male).
Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Hon'ble Governor of Assam also graced the occasion on December 4, 2016 and appreciated the performance of the participants.
