spirituality. Guru Harkishan Ji resisted Emperor Aurangzeb’s overtures with utmost maturity, sitting right under his nose in Delhi.
Guru Shri Teg Bahadur Saheb, the ninth Guru, was beheaded in Delhi for refusing to give up his religion and thus protect the right of the Hindus to practice their faith.
His son Shri Gobind Singh was the tenth Guru. His two younger sons were entombed alive in the walls for their refusal to give up their religion.
The Ten Gurus have left a rich legacy of unity, patriotism and active defense of one’s faith.
Guru Shri Gobind Singh Ji was the founder of Khalsa, a society of ideal people, the highest stage which equals the status of God, which humanity can aspire to achieve.
He bestowed on the Sikhs a distinctive appearance owing to the five Ks; Kesh, Kangha, Kirpan, Kada and Kachha.
As per Shri Guru Nanak Philosophy and teaching, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji handed over Gurugaddi to Shri Guru Granth Saheb – the Shabad Guru who is Omnipresent and Eternal.
Ours is a multi-religious and multi-cultural society. The author Smt. Kusum Ghatage has rightly stressed that it is the duty of every individual to promote and nurture among all people, the spirit of tolerance and understanding of each others’ religion and way of life.
The life story of the Ten Sikh Gurus will inspire people all over the world to remember God and inspire them to lead a dignified life through honest living.
Our best wishes are to the revered author Smt. Kusum P. Ghatage and the translators Smt. Pramila Naniwadekar and Gp. Capt. (Retd.) Moreshwar Naniwadekar.
