BHARATIYA VIDYA BHAVAN

Lankmarks in Bhavan's Growth
1955  Shri Dinkarrao N. Desai inaugurates the Nartan Shikshapith. Munshiji lays the foundation-stone of the new building of the Bhavan's Arts College at Chowpatty, Bombay.
The Bhavan's Kanpur Centre is started.
1956  The Bhavan organises Easy Sanskrit Examinations.
The starting of Bharati, a fortnightly in Hindi.
Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab, Governor of Bombay, lays the foundation-stone of temple of Lord Chandrasekhara in Bhavan's Campus, Andheri, Bombay.
1957 Kulapati Munshiji lays the foundation-stone of the Bhavan's Kanpur Centre.
Shri Sriprakasa, Governor of Bombay, inaugurates the Bi-Decennial Celebrations of the Bhavan.
Shri Girdharilal Mehta opens the new building of the Bhavan's Arts College at Chowpatty, Bombay.
Shri Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime-Minister of India, opens the Bhavan's Delhi centre.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad, President of India, presides over the Bhavan's Eleventh Convocation.
1958 The Bhavan starts "Shibir" and organises a ten-day camp of the Trustees, staff and students to foster a sense of mission and team-spirit.
Shri Bisnuram Medhi, Governor of Madras, inaugurates the Bhavan's Madras Centre.
1959  The Bhavan's Bangalore Centre is started.
The starting of Samarpan, a fortnightly in Gujarati.
1960  Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Bhavan's Press - Associated Advertisers and Printers - under the Presidentship of Shri S. K. Patil.
1961 Shri Morarji Desai, Union Minister for Finance, inaugurates the Bhavan's College of Journalism, Advertising & Printing.
Nawab Mehdi Nawaz Jung, Governor of Gujarat, inaugurates the Bhavan's Gujarat Centre.
Kulapati Munshiji performs tbe Khat Muhurt ceremony of the Bhavan's College of Arts and Science at Dakor, Oujarat.
Shri Y. B. Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, lays the foundation-stone of the Bhavan's Sardar Patel College of Engineering in Bhavan's Campus, Andheri, Bombay.
1962 Dr. Jivraj Mehta, Chief Minister of Gujarat, inaugurates the Bhavan's College of Arts & Science at Dakor, Gujarat.
Shri Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India, inaugurates the Bhavan's Sardar Patel College of Engineering at Andheri, Bombay.
Formation of an all-India Committee for the Bhavan's Silver Jubilee Celebrations under the Presidentship of Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, President of India, inaugurates the Bhavan's Silver Jubilee Celebrations.
Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, President of India, lays the foundation-stone of the Bhavan's Public School at Baroda, Gujarat.
Kulapati Munshiji gifts his Matheran property to the Bhavan on the occasion of his 76th Birthday.
