The lush green sylvan and tranquil campus of Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Velloor is the youngest offshoot of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra. It is a joint venture of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Hindustan Newsprint Limited and the agreement was executed on 1st April, 2003. The sprawling 9.5 acre campus was taken over in May 2003 by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and the institution has been steadily growing ever since. Now the school stands tall among the senior secondary schools of the region with a staff-strength of 110 and 1420 students. The SMC monitors and guides the functioning of the school and the active PTA is the strength and support of the school. Following the ideals of our Founder Kulapati Dr K M Munshi, the school provides holistic education firmly believing in the ageless culture, tradition and values of our country with the right blend of modern technology.
The school assembly with a variety of well-planned programmes provides ample opportunities to bring out the innate talents of our students thereby boosting their confidence. It is a perfect and powerful platform to instill discipline and set a joyful and focused tone for the day.
Students actively participate in various curricular and co-curricular activities, Olympiads, Quiz, MUN, Cultural programmes, Art and Science Exhibitions, Sports and Games and have won many accolades all through the years. The News Letter - Chethana and the School Magazine -Chaithram, are published every year. The School Radio “Dhwani” is yet another platform to showcase the inherent talents of the students.
Sanskrit is given due importance and a day in a week is set aside for the proceedings of the assembly to be conducted in Sanskrit. “Saral Sanskrit Examination”, organized by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mumbai, is conducted regularly. Sanskrit Day is celebrated every year with a good number of students participating in various intra and inter-school programmes.
