The Irinjalakuda Kendra was established in June 1992 in a rented building. Later, the Kendra acquired 6.42 acres of land in Kolothumpady and shifted the Kendra office and school to its own building in the new campus in 1994.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Irinjalakuda celebrated the Navaratri festival 2020 online for ten days, from 17 October to 26 October. The school showcased a variety of programmes in this connection and brought both joy and knowledge to its students. The school did not let fear of the pandemic undermine faith. The programme displayed the different regional versions of the festival. The local online news channel also covered the programme.
