On January 29, 2024, Padma Shri Brahmanand Sankhwalker, a recipient of the Arjuna Award and former captain of the Indian football team, inaugurated the newly laid grass-turf football field and coaching camp for selected students of Bhavan’s School in Perumthuruthi Elathur, Calicut. Dr. Gopalakrishnan Vice Chairman, Bhavan’s Kendra, Calicut, presided over the function. Sri. Vijayan Balakrishnan, (IAS Retd), Chairman of the Malabar Sports and Recreation Foundation, Calicut, along with Smt. Sreeja Unnikrishnan, Principal, Sri Sudhish Gopinath, PTA President, and other dignitaries graced the occasion with their presence.
Conference Hall inaugurated
The newly-constructed conference hall and renovated office room at Bhavan’s Kendra in Balamandir Building, Chalapuram, Calicut, were inaugurated on April 12, 2024. The Chairman, Gurusreshta Acharyasri A.K.B. Nair, ceremoniously lit the Nilavilakku during the inauguration. CA Srihari, Vice Chairman, Sri Sachit Kumar, Secretary, Adv. Vasan, Treasurer, Sri V.U. Eradi, IRS (Retd), Sri P. Chandrasekharan, IIS (Retd), M.P. Pradeep Kumar, Prof. Haridas, and Dr. Aryadevi were present at the inaugural function.
Adhyathmikacharya Gurusreshta Sri A.K.B. Nair was awarded the K.P. Kesava Menon Memorial Award for the year 2023. The esteemed award was presented by the Honourable Governor of Goa, Sri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, during a ceremony held at the Alakapuri Auditorium in Calicut. The K.P. Kesava Menon Memorial Award, established by the K.P. Kesava Menon Memorial Samithi in Calicut, pays tribute to the renowned freedom fighter, Founder and Chief Editor of Mathrubhoomi National Daily, former Indian High Commissioner of Singapore and Malaysia, and esteemed litterateur, K.P. Kesava Menon.
During the event, Acharya A.K.B. Nair was honoured by the Indo-Arab Confederation Council President Sri A.V. Kunhamu, who presented a memento to acknowledge his significant contributions. Additionally, Sri M. Kesavamenon, a senior journalist and great-grandson of K.P. Kesava Menon, bestowed further honour upon Acharya by adorning him with a ponnada.
The function, presided over by Sri P.V. Chandran, Chairman of Mathrubhoomi Company Pvt. Ltd., was marked by the welcoming address from Sri Attakoya Pallikandi, the General Secretary of the organising Committee. Acharya A.K.B. Nair expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all present for the recognition bestowed upon him.
Sri. V. Unnikrishnan Erady IRS (rtd), former Member Central Board of Direct Taxes Govt. of India, Member and advisor of BVB Kendra and Sri. P. Chandrasekharan, former Indian Information Service, Govt. of India and Member of BVB Kendra were honoured on September 12, 2023 at the Kendra office, Calicut. Sri Eradiji and Sri Chandrasekharanji completed 90 and 93 years of age respectively.
BVB Kendra Committee Chairman, Acharya Shri A.K.B. Nair adorned them with Ponnada and presented Kodi Vasthram to them and appreciated their valuable and mature advice rendered whenever needed. Sachit Kumar, Secretary Adv. Vasan Treasurer, Dr. Aryadevi Prof. Haridasan, and Rajagopalan felicitated Eradiji and Chandrasekharanji who expressed their gratitude.
Goa State Governor Sri P. S. Sreedharan Pillai released the four volumes of Sreemad Bhagavatha Mahapuranam Lalithavyakhyanam written by Adhyathmik Acharya Gurusreshta Sri A. K. B. Nair, containing 5,000 pages, at a function held on August 28, 2023, at Azhakodi Devi Mandiram Hall, Calicut. Calicut Lok Sabha MP Sri M. K. Raghavan, Calicut State Assembly Member Sri Thottathil Ravindran, Kasyapaveda Research Foundation Acharya Dr. M. R. Rajesh and Malayala Manorama Chief News Editor P. J. Joshwa received the four volumes. Sri P. V. Chandran, Chairman and Managing Editor of Mathrubhoomi newspaper, presided over the function.
Anwita Niju, a Std. 7 student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Perumthiruthi, Kozhikode, is a versatile student who has tried her hand in dance, music and sports.
Anwita has been an ardent yoga practitioner from the time she was in Std. 4 and has displayed the subtle science of harmony between mind and body.
She is an active participant in school events of district, state and even national championships.
Anwita has added many feathers to her cap by winning several competitions in the year 2022. A few of her achievements are:

1st prize in District Yoga Olympiad
1st prize in State Yoga Olympiad
She participated in the National Yoga Competition held in Maharashtra and she is looking forward to participating in the National Yoga Olympiad.
