Kochi Kendra
As the first rays of a new academic year heralded fresh possibilities, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi, welcomed the season of learning with Mangala Dhwani—an annual gathering that unites the educators of its seven schools, the Kindergarten and the B-school in a spirit of reflection, renewal, and shared purpose.
The programme commenced with a soulful prayer and the introduction of newly appointed teachers added special significance to the occasion as they were welcomed into a legacy founded on knowledge, culture, and values.
The occasion was further enriched by the felicitation of Master Rishabh Vinod (600/600) and Master Sivendu Pai M S (500/500) of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, in recognition of their outstanding achievement of securing a perfect score in the SSE 2025–26.
Innovation Lab Inauguration
Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, inaugurated its Innovation Lab on July 21, 2026. The new facility marks another step in the school’s commitment to quality education. It provides students with a space to explore ideas, learn through experience and develop practical skills. The Innovation Lab was inaugurated by C. A. Venugopal C. Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra. The lab is a vibrant space that sparks creative thinking, inviting students to experiment, tinker, and tackle real-world challenges. By bridging classroom lessons with everyday life, it nurtures curiosity, builds confidence, and deepens understanding through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Faculty from Evolve Robotics will conduct specialised sessions in the lab, opening a window onto cutting-edge technologies.
These engaging, project-driven workshops will give students practical exposure, sharpen technical skills, and kindle the inventive spirit needed for tomorrow’s world.
Golden Jubilee Celebrations 'Hiranmayam'
The Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, titled ‘Hiranmayam’, commenced on July 15, 2026. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri Jagdish P. Lakhani, Executive Secretary & Director General, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai. In his inaugural address, he appreciated the school’s outstanding contribution to education over the past fifty years and commended its unwavering commitment to nurturing responsible, compassionate, and socially conscious citizens.
CA Venugopal C. Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, presided over the function. The Golden Jubilee logo was released and a short video depicting the important milestones of the school’s growth from its inception was presented.
The inaugural programme concluded with ‘Amritavangmayam’, a cultural pageant celebrating the four major literary works of Dr. K. M. Munshi, namely ‘Prithvi Vallabh’, ‘Lopamudra’, ‘Kautilya’ and ‘Krishnavatara’. The presentation captivated the audience with its artistic interpretation of his literary works, leaving the audience enthralled.
Rasanubhavam
An enraptured audience was treated to an evening of sublime classical music as the renowned Carnatic vocalist and Oscar-nominated composer, Dr. Sreevalsan J. Menon, took centre stage for a grand concert titled ‘Rasanubhavam’. Organised under the auspices of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, the event was held on July 18, 2026, at Sardar Patel Sabha Griha, Ernakulam. True to its title, the evening offered an absolute experience of aesthetic bliss. Hailed for the profound spiritual quality of his renditions, Dr. Sreevalsan enthralled listeners with his immense command over the krithi and deeply moving, nuanced alapana elaborations.
Kochi Kendra
A special felicitation ceremony was held on June 30, 2026 at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor, to honour two distinguished members of the teaching faculty for their exceptional achievements and outstanding contributions to the field of education.
The school proudly felicitated Dr Rajesh Menon E, Department of Biology, on securing the First Prize at the Kerala Circle Level in the Above-18 Inland Letter Card Category of the Dhai Akshar Letter Writing Competition 2025–26, organised by the Department of Posts. The prestigious award was presented by Shri Arun Panicker, Inspector of Posts, Tripunithura Sub Division, who graced the occasion and presented the honour. As part of this distinguished recognition, he was also awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25,000.
The gathering also celebrated the remarkable achievement of Smt Dhanya V, Head of the Department of Social Science, who was honoured with the KCF Professional Excellence Award for Best Teacher. The award recognises educators for their exemplary commitment to teaching, innovative practices, and lasting impact on students. Although the award had earlier been conferred at a ceremony held at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, by Shri C. B. Sureshkumar, IRS, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, she was felicitated during the school function, where the Principal ceremonially presented the award in recognition of her accomplishment. Renowned for her unwavering dedication, compassionate mentorship, and learner-centred approach, she continues to inspire students and colleagues alike.
Kochi Kendra
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, expanded its early childhood education initiatives with the inauguration of Bhavan’s Bala Mandir, Vaikom, an annexe of Bhavan’s Bala Mandir, Velloor, functioning under Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Velloor. The newly established Bala Mandir currently offers Play school, Pre-KG and LKG classes and is equipped with day-care facilities. True to its theme, ‘A Short Walk to a Bright Tomorrow’, the new centre aims to provide a strong foundation for children in their formative years while ensuring greater convenience for parents. After completing their preschool education at the Vaikom annexe, students can continue their schooling at Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Velloor.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, accorded a warm and memorable farewell to Smt. Latha Jayaram, who retired on 31 May 2026 as Principal of Bhavan’s Munshi Vidyashram, Thiruvamkulam after completing 27 years of illustrious service.
A dedicated educator and administrator, Smt. Latha Jayaram has been instrumental in the growth and development of Bhavan’s Munshi Vidyashram.
Her unwavering commitment, professional excellence, and visionary leadership have contributed significantly to elevating the institution to greater heights. Throughout her tenure, she inspired students, teachers, and colleagues alike through her positive outlook, resilience, and steadfast dedication to the ideals of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
The farewell function commenced with a prayer. Shri. Suresh K, Deputy Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, welcomed the gathering. The function was presided over by Shri C.A. Venugopal C. Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, who delivered the presidential address, highlighting Smt. Latha Jayaram’s invaluable contributions to the Bhavan family. Shri E. Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, also addressed the gathering and lauded her dedicated service.
Felicitations were offered by CA K Sankaranarayanan, Vice Chairman and Hon. Secretary, Bhavan’s Kochi Kendra, Prof. Ambat Vijayakumar, Vice Chairman, Bhavan’s Kochi Kendra, Dr. Smitha Rajappan, Associate Dean, Bhavan’s Royal Institute of Management and Ms. Remya Das S, Vice Principal, Bhavan’s Munshi Vidyashram, Thiruvamkulam. The speakers fondly recalled Smt. Latha Jayaram’s exemplary leadership and her commitment to academic excellence.
As a token of appreciation and gratitude for her meritorious service, the Chairman presented a memento to Smt. Latha Jayaram on behalf of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra.
Kochi Kendra
Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor, proudly unveiled its newly refurbished Audio-Visual (AV) Room, marking a significant stride in its continuous efforts towards campus enhancement. The upgraded facility presents a contemporary transformation designed to enrich and elevate the learning experience of students.
The inauguration was officiated by C A Venugopal C Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi and graced by the presence of Shri E. Ramankutty, Director, along with members of the faculty and well-wishers on Monday, 6 April 2026.
The refurbished AV Room is envisioned to play a pivotal role in fostering progressive teaching methodologies and creating a more dynamic and engaging educational environment for students.
Pragya 2026 & Rangabhoomi
Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad, hosted two four-day workshops—‘PRAGYA 2026’ (Multimedia) and ‘Rangabhoomi’ (Theatre)—on March 27, 28, 30, and 31, organised by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra.
PRAGYA 2026, a multi media workshop organised in association with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kollam, was inaugurated by Brahmachari Achalamrita Chaitanya, Deputy General Manager, ACRD Guest House, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, and presided over by Sri E. Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi.
The programme provided students with hands-on exposure to creative digital technologies through activity-based learning, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The theatre workshop ‘Rangabhoomi 2026’ led by renowned actor and trainer Sri Manjulan K. V., was inaugurated by Sri E. Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi, and Sri K. Suresh, Deputy Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi, offered felicitations. Students from various Bhavan’s schools under Kochi Kendra actively participated in the training sessions, gaining hands-on experience in voice modulation, body language, and improvisation techniques that brought theatre learning to life.
The valedictory ceremony was held on March 31 and presided over by Sri K. Suresh. The chief guest, Dr. K. Sivaprasad, former Vice-Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and Member of the Expert Panel at DRDO, and Brahmachari Samsiddhamrita Chaitanya, graced the occasion.

Bhavan’s Royal Institute of Management proudly announces the exceptional achievement of its MBA student, Ms. Anjana Biju, at SARGAM 2026, the prestigious University Youth Festival organised by Cochin University of Science and Technology.
Ms. Anjana Biju, specialising in Marketing and Finance, secured First Prize in Kuchipudi and First Prize in Folk Dance, along with a Third Prize in Keralanatanam, showcasing her remarkable artistic talent and dedication. In recognition of her outstanding overall performance, she was honoured with the coveted ‘Sarga Prathibha’ title, the highest accolade awarded at the festival.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra conducted the 39th Annual All Kerala Inter School Science Quiz Competition in connection with the National Science Day on February 27, 2026 at Sardar Patel Sabha Griha, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, T. D. Road, Kochi.
The quiz competition was conducted in two categories: the Junior Category for students of Classes 4, 5 and 6, and the Senior Category for students of Classes 7, 8 and 9. Students from 16 schools across the state participated in this prestigious event, showcasing their knowledge, talents, and skills in a spirit of healthy and friendly competition. The programme was moderated by the distinguished quiz master Dr. Akshay Subramanian, whose energetic and engaging presentation maintained a high level of excitement and audience involvement throughout the event.
In the Senior Category, Master Arjun A Menon (Class 9), Master Ayush Rejith (Class 8) and Kumari Malavika Menon (Class 8), all students of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar emerged as champions. They were honoured with an Ever-Rolling trophy, certificates and a Cash Prize. Bhavan’s Munshi Vidyashram, Thiruvamkulam and Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara got the second and third position respectively. Certificates and cash awards were presented to both the teams.
In the Junior Category, Master Vishwanath Varma (Class 5), Master Adwaith Sajeev (Class 6) and Master Vaishnav C (Class 6) students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Chevayur, Kozhikode bagged first position. They were honoured with an Ever-Rolling trophy, certificates and a cash prize. The second position was a tie and it was shared by Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad and Vidyodaya School Thevakkal. The third position was also a tie and it was shared by Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara and Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar. Certificates and cash awards were presented to both the teams.
Kochi Kendra
The Kochi Kendra conducted the 39th Bhavan’s M. K. K. Nayar Memorial Annual All-Kerala Inter-School Quiz Competition on January 31, 2026 at Sardar Patel Sabha Griha, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, T. D. Road, Kochi. The topic for the Quiz Competition was ‘Environment– Heroes and Innovations’. Renowned Quiz Master Dr. Akshay Subramanian conducted the programme with remarkable energy and thrill, captivating the audience throughout. Students from 20 schools across the state participated in this prestigious event, showcasing their talents and skills in a spirit of friendly competition.
Madhav Malappat and Harinand S, students of Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad, emerged as champions of the competition and were awarded the prestigious M. K. K. Nayar Ever Rolling Trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000.
The second position was secured by Malavika Menon and Arjun A. Menon, students of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar and they were presented with certificates and a cash prize of Rs. 7,500.
The third position winners are Ishaan R. Menon and Niranjan Sekhar A., students of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara were awarded certificates and a cash prize of Rs. 5,000.
Annual Felicitation Ceremony
The Annual Felicitation Ceremony, Triumphs and Trophies, was held on February 7, 2026 at the prestigious Sardar Patel Sabha Griha, T.D. Road, Ernakulam. A total of 352 students were felicitated for their outstanding accomplishments in various domains, having secured accolades at the state, national, and international levels. The ceremony was presided over by the Chairman, C. A. Venugopal C Govind, and was graced by C. A K Shankaranarayanan, Honorary Secretary and Vice Chairman, C. A. G. Gopinathan, Vice Chairman, Shri E. Ramankutty, Director and Shri K Suresh, Deputy Director.
Kochi Kendra
Skandan K.S and Sathvik Sharath, students of Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara, Kochi, were declared the international winners of the Wild Wisdom Global Challenge (WWGC) 2025. They secured this remarkable achievement by representing India at the international finals held on December 9, 2025.
The WWGC, renowned as the world’s largest wildlife quiz, witnessed participation from over 4,27,639 students across more than 3,500 schools in India. A total of eight teams from four continents—Asia, Europe, North America, and South America—competed in the grand finale of WWGC 2025. The contest featured participants from India, France, Cyprus, Portugal, Bhutan, the UK, Hong Kong, and Colombia. Team India emerged as the first-place winner, followed by Colombia in second place and Portugal in third.
Skandan K S and Sathvik Sharath earned the opportunity to represent India at the international level after successfully advancing through multiple rounds, including the school, district, zonal, and national levels.
As part of their achievement, the national winners were given a prestigious opportunity to participate in the Winners’ Meet held in New Delhi from November 18-22, 2025 which served as a platform for interaction, learning, and exposure to global environmental initiatives.
A major highlight of the programme was the four-day educational visit to the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh.
The International Winners were honoured with trophies and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performance and dedication.
Kochi Kendra
Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor marked a milestone in progressive education with the inauguration of Vigyan Vatika, its newly established Science Park, on January 15, 2026. Conceived to foster experiential and inquiry-based learning, the thoughtfully designed park extends seamlessly across the campus—from the Kindergarten wing through the Primary block to the Secondary section—inviting students of all ages to engage with science in a tangible and inspiring manner.
The Science Park was formally inaugurated by CA Venugopal C Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi. Sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Association, the initiative features an impressive array of interactive installations, including a Newton’s Colour Disc, Persistence of Vision, Parabolic Disc, Musical Tube, Wave Pendulum, Infinity Well, Periscope, Automatic Rain Gauge, Periodic Table, Large DNA Model, Sun Dial, Optical Illusion Cube, Pulley System, and several other hands-on exhibits that vividly translate abstract scientific concepts into lived experience.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Sreejith V S, Director, Science Centre, Kodungallur, the creator of the Science Park. Envisioned as a vibrant learning ecosystem, Vigyan Vatika seeks to nurture curiosity, observation, and critical thinking, enabling students to explore the wonders of science beyond the confines of the classroom and inspiring a lifelong engagement with discovery and innovation.
New Block Inaugurated
Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its newly constructed block, the Kasturba Gandhi Block, on January 1, 2026. The three-storeyed building was inaugurated by CA Venugopal C. Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, in the presence of other dignitaries. The newly added facility houses nine spacious and well-designed smart classrooms equipped with modern digital teaching aids and contemporary learning resources. This progressive addition stands as a testament to the institution’s continuous efforts to upgrade its infrastructure and provide students with a dynamic, technology-enabled learning environment.
