National Science Day Celebration 2026

The National Science Day Celebration 2026 was held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan MHSS, R.S. Puram, Coimbatore on February 28, 2026. The event was attended by Chairman Shri N. V. Nagasubramaniam, Associate Secretary Shri Suryanarayanan C R, Principal Shri R. G. Shankar, and Chief Guest Dr. Mary Mohankumar Retired Scientist, from the Kalpakkam Atomic Centre.
The programme began with a prayer, followed by a unique moment when a robot presented a bouquet to the dignitaries, symbolising the blend of tradition and modern technology.
A special highlight was the presentation of the C. V. Raman Award to Vyshnavi of Class 11 for her outstanding contribution to scientific studies. The celebration concluded with the inauguration of the Science Exhibition, where students displayed innovative projects related to robotics, science concepts, and sustainable agriculture.

The International Summit

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Matric. Hr. Sec. School students of Class 9 took part in the International Summit on February 3, 2026 on the topic ‘Young Leaders for a Climate Smart Future’, which focused on fostering youth-led climate action, sustainable development and climate resilient agriculture.

Bioconcorrenza 2026

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Matric. Hr. Sec. School students took part in ‘Bioconcorrenza 2026’ which is a major national-level biotechnology symposium and technical festival that took place at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. It was held in connection with National Science Day celebrations on February 27 and 28, 2026.
The event focused on bringing science and innovation to the forefront through various competitions, workshops, and exhibitions. Poster presentations, quiz and various technical competitions were conducted and the following students were the winners.

Sports

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Matric. Hr. Sec. School, N. Hemanth Nivas of Class 5 secured first place in State level Taekwondo.

State Sports Meet

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Bhavin Adithya of Class 8 and Adarsh Srinivasan of Class 7 secured second place in the State level tennis match.

Award Ceremony

To commemorate the contribution of Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathi to Tamil literature and freedom struggle, The Nava Bharathi award ceremony was organised by Bharathi Pasarai Trust & Suburban Hr. Sec. School on February 19, 2026.
S. Oviya and M.S. Ajay Krishna of Class 10 won in Tamil essay writing and poetry, Sai Sathvika of Class 10 won in Tamil elocution. The winners were honoured with a cash prize of Rs. 3000 in recognition of their talent and excellence.

International Letter Writing Competition

Indian Postal department conducted an International letter writing competition on February 23, 2026 on the topic, “Write a letter to a friend about why human connection matters in a digital world”. The students from Classes 5 to 9 took part enthusiastically.

Study Trip

In connection with National Science Day, the students of Class 8 of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Matric. Hr. Sec. School visited the Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Cbe on February 27, 2026. The students explored advanced agricultural technology and the event highlighted the institute’s modern scientific advancements.

Artificial Intelligence

ARCOMM Tech Solutions Pvt., Ltd., conducted World Young Innovators Expo, an international event on January 10, 2026 for students from 4—9 Std. at Gitanjali Public school, CODISSIA, Coimbatore. 18 students from the school participated and presented their innovative projects. The event provided a global platform for young minds to showcase creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, encouraging innovation and technological awareness among students.

Rajya Puraskar Award

The Rajya Puraskar Award was conferred to 114 Scouts and Guides of the school in recognition of their outstanding performance, discipline, and dedication.
The honoured students had successfully completed all the required tests, camps and service activities prescribed under the Rajya Puraskar scheme. Their achievements reflect their commitment to leadership, teamwork and community service.

Pongal Music Festival – 2026

The Coimbatore Kendra successfully conducted its annual Music Festival during 12th to 16th January this year. It coincided with the dates of the Pongal celebrations in Tamil Nadu. As part of the inaugural function on the first day, this year’s ‘Sangeeth Samrat’ Award was conferred on Dr. Smt. S. Sowmya, a famous Carnatic Vocalist, Vainika and Researcher, who is the current Vice Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalitha Music & Fine Arts University. The Kovai Subri Muruga Gana Award was conferred on Smt. Meena Subramanian, a Senior Vidushi renowned in Coimbatore. After the formal function the audience was regaled with a sumptuous feast of classical Carnatic music by Dr. Sowmya and her accompanying artistes, which included the well-known Violinist Embar Shri S. Kannan. A very knowledgeable audience appreciated the high quality of the feast served.
A highly scholarly Lecture Demonstration by this year’s Sangeetha Kalanidhi awardee Shri R.K.Shriramkumar, the renowned violinist, was held on the second day. The same evening saw a delightful concert by Kum. Amritha Murali. The third day was made memorable by an enjoyable music concert by Kum. Sri Ranjani Tapasya Santhanagopalan and her team. On the fourth day the audience was treated to a lovely feast of Violin Duet by Mysore Brothers Shri M.Nagaraj &
Dr. M.Manjunath. The morning of the final day (January 16th) saw a grand festival of Sadguru Sri Thyagaraja Aradhana being celebrated in Bhavan’s Coimbatore Kendra. The musicians of Coimbatore participated in it in great numbers and made it a resounding success. The same evening the music festival reached a crescendo with a vibrant performance by the Celebrity Artistes Smt. Ranjani & Smt. Gayatri duo and their team.
Further, on all the five days an additional music slot was created essentially reserved for upcoming local artistes. On the first day the stage was electrified by a musical bhajan by students of BVB Mat. Hr. Sec. School, R.S.Puram, Coimbatore. On the other four days, two groups and two individual performances, utilised the given opportunity with very promising performances.

Anaemia Screening Camp

At Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Ajjanur, an Anaemia Screening Test was conducted on November 29, 2025 for the students of Classes VI, VII and VIII by a team of doctors from PSG and Masonic Hospital, along with volunteers from Shanti Ashram.
The medical team carried out the tests systematically and provided students with valuable guidance on nutrition, iron-rich foods and healthy lifestyle practices to prevent and manage anaemia. The programme was highly beneficial and helped students gain a better understanding of their health status.

Mahakavi Birthday Celebration

The birthday of Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathi was celebrated on December 11, 2025 with great respect and enthusiasm. In connection with the celebration, Tamil handwriting and poem recitation competitions were conducted. Cultural programmes such as speech and dance were also organised, encouraging students to showcase their talents while paying tribute to the great poet. Class VIII student, S. Tharunika secured third place in the Tamil Elocution Competition conducted by Bharathiyar Library, Veerakeralam, Coimbatore.

Boxing Tournament

A. Kavin from Class 4 won a silver medal in the district-level Boxing tournament held in Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore on December 28, 2025, organised by the Coimbatore District Amateur Boxing Association.

West Zone Sports Meet 2025

The annual West Zone Sports Meet 2025 was successfully hosted by BVB, Ajjanur at Nehru stadium. The grand event was inaugurated by Smt. D. Maheswari, Principal, BVB, Ajjanur, Shri. M. Kumaresan, District Inspector of Physical Education. The meet witnessed enthusiastic participation from schools across the West zone. Students competed in a variety of events. After the inauguration ceremony, Athletic events were conducted. Around 3000 students from 73 schools participated in various sports events and won prizes in various categories.

Inter school Silambam Competition

The West Zone Sports Meet—Inter school Silambam competition was conducted at BVB MHSS School, Ajjanur. 10 students bagged the First place and 6 students won the Second place. The achievement brought pride and joy to the entire school community.

Orientation Programme

An orientation was organised by ENTERCON for the students of class X & XII on September 3, 2025. The session aimed to guide students about various aspects of communication, personality development and career readiness.
The resource persons from ENTERCON conducted interactive sessions that motivated students to enhance their memory power, communication skills, confidence and leadership qualities. They also emphasised the importance of setting clear goals and developing a positive mind set to achieve success in both academics and life.

Award Function

An award function was held at BVB, R.S. Puram on August 21, 2025 to honour the meritorious students. On this occasion, distinguished awards were presented to encourage academic excellence and talent among the students. Balasubrahmanyam Rukmani Ammal scholarship was conferred on six deserving students in recognition of their outstanding academic performance and dedication. In addition, Manglaben Vindorai Sonpal & Kishore Vindorai Sonpal scholarship was also conferred on two students who excelled in various fields, thereby motivating them to continue their pursuit of knowledge and excellence.

Inauguration of Study Centre

On August 4, 2025, the school inaugurated the Vivekananda Study Centre with great reverence. The ceremony honoured Swami Vivekananda's ideals of strength, wisdom and service.
The distinguished guest, Swami Bhava Priyananda from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya emphasised the significance of character building and education, highlighting the enduring relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s message in the lives of today’s youth.

Orientation on Stress and Time Management

The students of Class 11 and 12 attended an orientation session on the topic ‘Stress and Time Management’. The resource person Shri. Krishnan Kutty created awareness on time management and equipped participants with effective techniques for managing stress.

Tritiya Sopan Camp


A contingent of 19 Scouts and 12 Guides attended the Coimbatore District Tritiya Sopan Camp on July 26-27, 2025.

Rajya Puraskar Test Camp

A Guide Camp along with the Rajya Puraskar Examination was conducted from June 13–15, 2025 at Government Hr. Sec. School, Madukkarai. A total of 11 Guides along with two Guides Captains actively took part in the camp. During the three-day event, the participants were engaged in various activities including practical tests, theory sessions and first-aid training.

Awards Function

The Awards function was held on June 27, 2025, to honour and celebrate the academic excellence of students in Classes 10, 11, and 12.
The Chief Guests, Chairman Shri. N. V. Nagasubramaniam, Correspondent & Secretary Shri. M. Alagirisamy, Associate Secretary Shri. C. R. Suryanarayanan and Treasurer Shri. R. Ravindran addressed the gathering and appreciated the school’s efforts in nurturing young minds. Teachers were also felicitated for their exemplary service and contribution to the students’ academic progress.

International Yoga Day

The International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21, 2025. The chief guest Dr. N. Devi, Professor & Staff Co-ordinator (Yoga), Karpagam University, Cbe addressed the audience through her insightful and informative speech on Yoga and its benefits.
A yoga competition was also conducted which aimed to promote yoga among students.

Reading Day

National Reading Day was observed on June 19, 2025 to honour the legacy of Shri. P.N. Panicker, the ‘Father of Library Movement’. It helped to promote the importance of reading and literacy, encouraging individuals to embrace books and the wealth of knowledge they offer.

Human Excellence Orientation

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Coimbatore, conducted a Human Excellence Orientation on May 26, reaffirming its commitment to value-based education. The event was attended by dignitaries including Chairman Shri. N. V. Nagasubramaniam, Correspondent Shri. Alagiriswami, Joint-Secretary Shri. C. R. Surya Narayanan and other dignitaries. Chairman Shri. N. V. Naga Subramaniam highlighted the need to preserve Indian culture and guide students to become responsible citizens. Correspondent Shri. Alagiriswami praised teachers for their dedication and recent academic achievements.
The keynote address was given by Swami Jagadatmananda, Arsha Vidya Gurukulam on the topic: The Importance of Values in Shaping Individuals. Swami Jagadatmananda emphasised Dharma as the foundation of Indian culture and the essence of true education. He also elaborated on the Four Streams of Yoga—Bhakti, Karma, Raja and Jnana Yoga—as pathways to emotional stability and spiritual growth.
In the second session, Shri. Iakoka. N. Subramaniam stressed the importance of traditional Indian values in modern education. He praised the Indian family system and emphasised value-based teaching, citing India’s rich contributions to science and spirituality.
The first session of the Academic Orientation addressed the challenges modern educators face and explored ways to overcome them. The Resource person highlighted today’s educational complexities, stressing that challenges should be viewed as opportunities. The importance of 360-degree assessment (teacher, peer, parent, self) was emphasised, along with collaborative learning, communication, and cultivating curiosity.
Session 2 was on Skills for Future Readiness and Addressing Learning Gaps The speaker Smt. Sundari, Former Director, Amrita Vidyalayam highlighted the role of teachers in shaping the nation’s future and emphasised on the essential skills for future readiness.

Freshers' Meet

The Freshers’ Meet provided a comprehensive orientation to the new Class 11 students and their parents, outlining the school’s ethos, academic expectations, and disciplinary guidelines. The addresses by the Principal and other dignitaries reinforced Bhavan’s commitment to holistic education, emphasising both academic excellence and human values, while also highlighting the crucial partnership between the school and parents for student success. The session set a positive and clear tone for the upcoming academic journey of Class 11.

Inauguration of Human Excellence and Vivekananda Study Centre Session

The Saturday Human Excellence and Vivekananda Study Centre session for the academic year
2025–26 was inaugurated on June 20. Swami Jagadatmananda Saraswathi ji graced the occasion as the resource person and spoke on ‘Importance of Values in Student Life'.Swamiji inaugurated the Vivekananda Study Centre. New members were welcomed with badges and books. Swamiji gave two guiding mantras: Deshbhakti (Patriotism) and Ishwarabhakti (Devotion to God).

Fresher’s Meet, Parent-Induction Programme and Inauguration of AI & Robotics

The school hosted a vibrant and informative series of events, combining the new parent induction programme, Inaugural of AI and Fresher’s Day on May 30, 2025, welcoming the new students and their families to the community.
The Chief Guest of the day, Correspondent and Secretary Shri. M. Alagirisamy graced the occasion. He inaugurated the launch of Artificial Intelligence— Robotics, and distributed the books to the students. All the teaching and non- teaching staff were introduced to the freshers. The school’s legacy, regulations, and the plan of action of the new academic year was circulated to the parents.

Bharat Scouts & Guides camp


School Scouts & Guides incharge teachers attended the 7 days State Training programme of Bharat Scouts and Guides at Stanley park, Outtupattarai, Coonoor from May 1- May 7, 2025.
Theory and practical classes were conducted and they were taken trekking and on a visit to MRC— Madras Regimental Centre Museum. 236 teachers from various districts took part in the camp.

All India Induction Programme

The All India Induction programme for newly appointed Principals and teachers was organised online by the Bhavan’s Kochi Kendra on May 19 and 20, 2025. Eminent speakers from various Bhavan’s Kendras who included Chairpersons, Directors, Deputy Directors and Senior Principals familiarised the new staff on the history, the ideals, and the values for which the institution stands.
Chairman Shri BK Krishnaraj Vanavarayar’s address on ‘The Role of Empathy in Teaching’ Inspiring Students through Passion and Enthusiasm’ held the listeners spellbound!
The 2-day Induction programme was in all a comprehensive one, spotlighting on all aspects of today’s Education System.

Sports Achievement

M. S. Muhilan of Class 9 won third place in the Tamilnadu Sub–junior Badminton ranking held at Madurai.

Little Wonders Day

Bhavan’s Coimbatore Kendra Kindergarten celebrated ‘Little Wonders Day’ on March 27, 2025.
Former students shared their experiences and memories of their time in Kindergarten, filling the audience with nostalgia.
Current students enthralled the audience with mesmerising dance performances, making it a joyous and memorable day. A skit showcasing the history of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was performed by the UKG students, bringing the legacy of the institution to life. The supportive parents shared their views and entertained the audience with a special dance performance, making the event even more memorable.

International Math Day Celebration

The Maths Day celebration was held on March 15, 2025 to commemorate the significance of Mathematics in our daily lives and to honour the contributions of great mathematicians.
The celebration began with a prayer song, followed by a formal welcome address. The chief guest, Dr. Murugan Suvinthra, Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics at Bharathiyar University, motivated the students by telling them about the importance of mathematics.
Students from Grades 6 to 9 presented a wonderful skit, emphasising the role of mathematics in real-life situations. Students explained various mathematical concepts through dance performances. They also demonstrated mathematical calculations using modern Abacus and ancient Vedic math. To observe International Math Day 2025, a quiz was conducted, and the winners were awarded prizes. The Chief Guest inaugurated a math exhibition showcasing innovative models and projects created by students to illustrate mathematical concepts.
