Kala Kendra has been sponsoring the Inter Collegiate Drama Competition from the year 1951 under the pioneership and the devotional dedication of Shri. Navin Khandwala, the then Hon. Secretary of Kala Kendra, Shri Girish Munshi, the then Joint Secretary of Kala Kendra and Shri Adi Marzban, a Theatre icon of yesteryears.
This multi lingual competition has been instrumental in providing a platform to the students of various Colleges of Mumbai to exhibit and develop their theatrical talents. Every year new experiments are made in Direction, Set designing, Lights & Music and these exploits have enriched the professional as well as the amateur stage.
The valuable guidance and blessings of Kulpati Kanaiyalal Munshi and Smt. Lilavati Munshi, Shri Girish Munshi, Shri Pravinchandra V. Gandhi, Shri S. Ramakrishnanji, Shri Navin T. Khandwala, Shri Adi Marzban, Shri Ramesh Jamindar, Shri Giresh Desai and Shri Lalit Shah (Copwud), turned the competition in to Mumbai’s Biggest Theatrical Movement.
