The Birth Centenary of renowned musician V. V. Sadagopan was celebrated in Chennai on February 8 Eminent Mridangist Dr. T. K. Murthy inaugurated and Sri Ramaswamy, Director Chennai Kendra of Bhavan, unveiled a special portrait of the singer.
The day-long programme included a symposium on the topic 'Man and Music' followed by a guided interactive session with the audience. Dr. T. K. Venkata-subramaniam, former dean, School of Social Studies, Delhi University and eminent columnists Vamanan and Sujatha Vijayaraghavan spoke on the various aspects of V. V. Sadagopan and his contribution to music.
Ms. Devika Raman, daughter of Sadagopan, presented a demonstration of songs for children composed by the musician for the benefit of children under the banner Tyaga Bharati. Many writers, artists, teachers and members of Sadagopan's family took part in the function which was supported by The Sandilyan Memorial Trust, Chennai and Lakshmi Kuppuswamy Trust, Delhi.
