J. Veeraraghavan, Former Director, New Delhi Kendra passed away on 4 June, 2021. He was 90.
An illustrious personality, Veeraraghavanji was Former Secretary, Govt. of India in Ministry of Human Resources Development and Secretary, Dept of Culture. He was also the Regional Advisor, Social Development, UNESCAP, and Consultant in Education, UNESCO, Bangkok. In 1986 he was appointed Consultant for reorganisation of the Development of Education of the Govt. of Ghana and from 1983-1986 he was advisor (Education), Planning Commission, Govt. of India. From 1978-83 he was Executive Director, National Institute of Education Planning and Administration and member, HRD Academy, Ahmedabad.
Veeraraghavanji who was associated with the Bhavan for over 35 years, was active till a couple of years ago heading its network of institutions of higher learning as a Director. Under his able leadership, New Delhi Kendra flourished and became the most visible and active centre of culture, arts and education.
He is survived by his wife. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
