National Integration camp
Participants at the 5th National Integration Camp
Bhavan's Gandhi Vidyashram, Kodaikanal hosted the 5th National Integration Camp in the school premises from May 21 to 26. Over 250 students from 42 Bhavan's schools from all over India participated in the camp. The chief guests of the occasion were Shri Rakesh Saxena, Director, Shikshan Bharathi, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai and Smt. Meena Vishwanathan, Educational Officer, Bhavan's Shikshan Bharathi, South Zone B. The inaugural function started with a March Past of the 42 Bhavan's schools with their respective school placards and flags. Shri Rakesh Saxena unfurled the National flag. After the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, the students recited the Sarvadharma prayer and took the Sarvadharma pledge and National Integration pledge. Principal, Smt. P. Sridevi Mohan welcomed the participants. After the inaugural ceremony an elocution competition on the topic "Challenges to National Integration in India" was held. Later in the evening cultural programmes were performed by the participating schools upholding the values of National Integration. The International Bio-diversity Day was observed by planting three shola tree saplings in the school campus by Shri Rakesh Saxenaji, the students and teaching faculty of all the participating schools. It was followed by an interactive session on 'Overcoming fear in daily routine' by Mr. Krishnankutty.
Games were organised for the students and the teachers in the evening. The day ended with a poster making competition on the topic 'Communal Harmony'. The delegates went on treks, jogging, sight seeing, performed yoga, meditation, chanted shlokas, participated in quiz, cultural activities, sports and generally had a busy schedule. There were Interactive sessions, special talks, workshops, sessions on chocolate making, vegetable carving, jewellery and the like in which the children participated whole heartedly. Shri P. R. Ramasubramaneya Rajha the Chairman and Shri S. Annamalai the Executive Vice Chairman, graced the valedictory function and distributed the certificates.
