Value Educaion Workshop
|
The Bhavan's Mehta Vidyalaya introduced for its students the three-year graded value education programme (The Awakened Citizen programme) designed by Ramakrishna Mission under the aegis of CBSE based on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Mrs. Ritu Sehgal and Ms. Saumya Nair (Value Education programme co-ordinators) have been conducting the sessions of this pilot programme since its initiation for Class VII students last year. The aim of the programme is to 'empower students in a real and tangible way and help them develop as enlightened citizens enabling them to stand on their own feet'.
After successful introduction and implementation of 16 value education classes for Class VII last year, this year the programme was introduced to Class VIII students. The topics covered during these sessions are - Atmashraddha, Being Heroic, Expanding Myself, Living in Harmony, Seeking Perfection, Developing Shraddha, Being a Truth Seeker, etc.
On December16, 2015, three representatives from R. K. Mission, Mrs. Piya Chakraborthy, Mrs. Indrani and Mrs. Jayshree visited the school with a view to observe the ongoing 'Awakened Citizen Programme'. Mrs. Ritu Sehgal and Ms. Saumya Nair took up the 8th session on 'Living in Harmony. At the end of the session the visiting experts interacted with the students.
The students also participated in National Youth Day celebrations organised by R. K. Mission on January 29, 2016.
