Bhavan's Kochi Kendra in association with Shikshan Bharati, Mumbai, organised a National Workshop on Human Excellence for teachers at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, Kochi from May 21 to 23. Over 114 teachers from 55 Bhavan schools from all over India participated in the programme. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Ajit Patil, IAS and presided over by Shri Rakesh Saxena, Director of Shikshan Bharati, Mumbai. Smt Vijayalakshmi Narendran and Smt Meena Vishwanathan, Education Officers of South Zone welcomed the participants and introduced the workshop. The students of BVM, Elamakkara presented a programme titled 'Legacy of Excellence'. Shri E. Ramakutty, Director of Bhavan’s Kochi Kendra also addressed the gathering.
The academic session started with a talk by Shri Vijay Menon on 'Practical illustrations of enhancing value consciousness'. Shri Pramod Kumar presented the Human Excellence Syllabus and led the discussion on Lesson Plan presentation. The textbook 'Unleashing Excellence' was also introduced and distributed to the teacher delegates.
Talks on various subjects such as 'Integrating the values in teaching', 'Values for a competitive world', 'Family values from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata', 'Values from Bhagavad-Gita for modern life' etc. were given to the delegates.
The Valedictory function was presided over by Retd. Justice Shri K. Padmanabhan Nair, Chairman of Bhavan's Kochi Kendra.
