Hiya Kwatra, a student of class X-D of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27-B, Chandigarh has achieved the distinguished honour of being selected to represent India in the 11th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) to be held in Cote d'Azur, Nice, France.
The Olympiad will be held during 22nd to 29th August with over 30-40 countries participating. Hiya will be leaving shortly to attend pre-Departure Camp to be held at Anna University, Chennai along with three other top rankers from the country.
IESO is a prestigious International Annual Competition which involves three rounds at the National Level in which school students from all over India participate. It tests the students' ability in disciplines such as Geology, Meteorology, Environmental Science and Terrestrial astronomy. The Indian team selection is the responsibility of the Geologic Society of India and is supported by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.
The Sr. Principal Ms. Vineeta Arora felicitated Hiya Kwatra and complemented her for achieving the distinguished feat. She also wished her the very best for the next and final round in France.
