Bhavan's Andheri Campus is known for its excellence in education - from primary classes to engineering and management. The campus is also known for Bhavan's Nature & Adventure Centre (BNAC). Its pivotal role in animal and environmental protection is well known. Undoubtedly, that is the reason for it to partner with the UN Decade on Bio-Diversity 2011-2020. The BNAC is poised for greater development in the years to come, with more participation and more involvement.
The Centre located in a 2-acre premise, within the sprawling Bhavan's campus, has to its advantage a beautiful water body. It shelters and nurtures a variety of flora and fauna. It is a mini-sanctuary with a large number of plant, tree, insect, bird, butterfly and other animal species. Its primary objectives in the areas of education, community participation, rescue and rehabilitation of animals and birds, creating public awareness are well acclaimed by nature lovers.
BNAC has close relations with a number of sister organisations in and around Mumbai, such as the Maharashtra Nature Club, Arts Interaction, West Zone Culture Centre of the Govt. of India, National Centre for Performing Arts, etc.
The annual three-day Nature Festival attracts more than 10,000 visitors whose main interest is to explore environmental protection programmes. Apart from this, the number of students visiting the Centre for One-day tours has increased manifold over the years - more than 40000 in four years. From a humble beginning a few years ago, BNAC today stands tall with its tall trees, herbarium, orchids, fungi and animal breeding centre. Some of the birds and animals in distress which were rescued and rehabilitated include kites, owls, mynas, pigeons, dogs and cats. These animals though released into their natural habitat are known to visit the centre.
BNAC is a choicest venue for nature lovers and organizers of Management Development Programme.
