The month of Sravan has its own significance in the Indian calendar. This month brings along with it, a festive mood and enhances spirituality. It bestows the seeds of health, wealth and contentment. On the other hand Sangeetham pleases the heart and soul and reaches the depths where emotions and intellect coalesce into intuition.
The Sangeetham in the month of 'Sravana' unfolded as Sravana Sangeetha Lahiri is a cultural festival of Music and Dance. This year the students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan presented the programme on the theme 'Sapta Swara - Tala Visistatha' highlighting the significance of Swara and Tala in Music and Dance.
The programme was formally inaugurated with the Bhavan's prayer and lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest of the day Sri N. Mukteswara Rao, I.A.S (Rtd), Director, SVETA, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Tirupati, Dr N. Satyanarayana Raju, Hon. Director and Treasurer and other dignitaries. Smt S. Indira, Principal, Bhavan's S.V. Vidyalaya proposed the welcome address.
Dr. N. Satyanarayana Raju, Hon. Director and Treasurer, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra presided over the function and stated that to realize the dream of K.M. Munshiji in upkeeping the Indian Culture and Heritage, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan organizes 'Sravana Sangeetha Lahari' in order to develop interest towards spiritual aspects and Indian Carnatic music and Classical dance forms.
The day's Chief Guest Sri N. Mukteswara Rao, I.A.S (Rtd) expressed his ecstasy on the culture that was followed through such programmes and added it helped students imbibe the values. The event took an interesting turn when the chief guest had a discussion with the parents about the importance of music, and came to the conclusion that Sangeetham is the most simple art form, close to heart and does not need a materialistic medium for expression.
The day's chief guest was felicitated by Dr. Alladi Mohan, Associate Secretary, Prof Ch. Govinda Raju, Bhavan's Committee Member.
The spell bounding performance of the participants mesmerized the audience.
The day's programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Smt. A.Vani Sree, Vice Principal, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati.
