Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai Kendra has opened P.A.C. Ramasamy Raja Hall at its premises on August 29, 2012. The Hall was inaugurated by P. R. Ramasubrahmaneya Rajha, Chairman Madras Cements Ltd. The hall was named after his father.
On this occasion, Dr. Balamurali Krishna presented a musical tribute along with T. V. Gopalakrishnan on the mridangam.The 1000 sq.ft air conditioned hall can accommodate about 130 people and is fully sound proof. It has been built in a way that it can also be used as sound and music recording studio. Shri K. N. Ramaswamy, Director, Chennai Kendra said that the Bhavan would be using the hall for conducting cultural events like discourses, lectures, seminars and concerts.
Carnatic Music Archives
Bhavan’s Chennai Kendra has joined hands with TAG Music archives to create a space in Mylapore, Chennai where one can listen to vintage music and concerts of the best musicians of today and yester years.
This unique facility was launched on September 12, 2012 by Shri N. Murali, President of the Music Academy in Chennai. The facility offers over 1000 hours of music of the masters.
Kendra Chairman Shri L. Sabaretnam and Director K.N. Ramaswamy have led the execution of the project.
