District Open Chess Tournament
|
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School, Visakhapatnam organized the District Open Chess Tournament in association with Intel School of Genius Chess Academy affiliated to Visakhapatnam District Chess Association in its school premises on 18th August, 2019 as an extension of its Sports Academy activities.
More than 170 participants participated in the tournament.
The Valedictory function was graced by Chief Guest Sri. R.Venkata Satyanarayana Murty Assistant Commissioner of police, Dwaraka sub - division, Visakhapatnam and his wife Mrs. R.MahaLakshmi. While addressing the gathering the Chief guest said that playing games like Chess will help them to improve their intelligence and concentration level as it is a mind game. Further he expressed delight to attend such a wonderful gathering where he could see a number of future grand masters.
Sri Subba Reddy, Secretary of Visakhapatnam District Chess Association appreciated the school management for providing such a wonderful platform through the Sports Academy where many children are getting the chance to exhibit their talents in different sports & games.
Sri T.S.R.Prasad, Chairman, The Olympic Association and Sri D.S.Varma, Vice - President, Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association and Sri.Hanumantha Rao graced the programme with their august presence. The Principal, Mrs.Shimpy Kumari promised to provide more challenging competitive platform in the coming months. Mr.Ch.Narayan Rao, Mr.P.V. Appa Rao, the coaches, teachers and parents also attended the programme. The Valedictory function marked a joyous conclusion with the prize distribution to all the winners and participation certificates to all the participants through the hands of Sri. R.Venkata Satyanarayana Murty, and other dignitaries.
