Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh, won the prestigious CCPCR award for its exemplary practices and initiatives in empowering its differently abled students and children of special needs. The award was given away by the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) in a ceremony organised at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18 on March 16, 2020.
The school was presented with a certificate and a souvenir by the commission team.
Established in 1987, the Special Cell at the school has been catering to the educational and social needs of children with various educational disabilities such as Downs Syndrome, Autism, ADHD and other multiple disorders.
Managed by a devoted team of highly motivated and well experienced special educators, the Special Cell offers inclusive integrated education for its members. To this end, it imparts basic life skills and vocational training, aimed at making the students emotionally and economically independent and develop financial acumen.
A comprehensive fitness training programme promoting physical well-being and self esteem is also implemented systematically during the school year.
