As a part of its Platinum Jubilee Celebrations and 125th Birth year of its Founder, Dr. K. M. Munshi, the Chennai Kendra conducted a Dance Festival consisting of 44 dance programmes comprising of Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Mohiniattam and Kathak from December 14 to 27, 2012 at Chennai.
Eminent artists from various parts of the country were invited to perform. The festival was inaugurated by Mr. Mike Nithavrianakis, British Deputy High Commissioner, Chennai. Shri L. Sabaretnam, Chairman of the Kendra presided over the function and Shri S. S. Rajsekar, Chairman, Kala Kendra welcomed the gathering. On this occasion Smt. Priyadarsini Govind, an eminent Bharatanatyam exponent was felicitated with a Life Time Achievement Award of Rs. 1 lakh instituted by Shri P. Vijayakumar Reddy and
Dr. Preetha Reddy in memory of P. Obul Reddy and P. Gnanamba.
A citation, shawl and a medal were also presented to her.
The Kendra also conducted a Music Series from January 5 to 19, 2013 at the Kendra premises consisting of 45 programmes.
The music series consisted of vocal and instrumental Shri L. Sabaretnam, Chairman, Bhavan's Chennai Kendra presided over the function.
Shri N. Ananthapadmanabhan, Managing Director, NAC Jewellers Private Limited (sponsors of the Festival) inaugurated the Music Series.
