Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara has been successfully accredited with the British Council International School Award for the period 2013-16. The International School Award is an accreditation scheme of the British Council that recognises and celebrates an international dimension in the learning experience of the students through a programme of activities that aim to educate students about different cultures and countries.
Within the school, the international projects undertaken involved activities such as 'Project - Go Green' which focused on the need to create awareness amongst students about the importance of nature conservation, while, 'Performing Arts' explored the similarities and differences in the Japanese art form 'Noh', 'the Shakespearean theatre' and 'Koodiyattam'. The project 'World Government' enhanced the students' knowledge of the significance and functioning of the political institutions of various countries, the laws and rules which govern a society, and also focused attention on the need of the hour - international peace among nations of the world.
Principal Mrs. Jaya Jacob was presented the award by Mr. Rob Lynes, Director, British Council, India, at Kolkata on November 16, 2013. In a ceremony held in the school, Hon. Minister for State for Human Resource Development, Shri Shashi Tharoor presented the award to the Principal, Smt. Jaya Jacob.
