The 8th Tirupati Book Festival began on February 1 at the S.V.High School. A procession carrying Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita and other books was brought in a palanquin by the Tirupati Kendra members, staff, students and parents.The 9 day long festival was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri K. Ramgopal, District Collector, Chittoor while Shri M. G. Gopal, Executive Officer, Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams and Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra presided.
Prof. P. Vijayalakshmi, Registrar, Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam was the guest of honour. Dr. Alladi Mohan, Associate Professor,and Associate Secretary of the Bhavan, welcomed the guests.

On the concluding day, the Chief Guest was Smt. S.P.Shailaja, renowned cine playback singer and Smt. Jalandhara Chandra Mohan who were introduced by Dr. N. Satyanarayana Raju, Hon. Director and Treasurer of Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra. Sri P.V. Krishna Reddy, Executive Vice Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, chaired the function.
