The concluding day of an International seminar on "Sanskrit on the Silk Route" was jointly organised by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's centre of Indology and Institute of Indo Asian Studies on December 10, 2013 in New Delhi. The seminar brought together academicians and scholars from the country and delegates from different countries to discuss, explore and provide a perspective to the significance of Silk Route, the most famous cultural artery for spreading Sanskrit scriptures and Sanskrit language among the Asian countries and the rich cultural legacy it has left behind.
The Presidential address for the Valedictory function was given by Prof. Lokesh Chandra, a distinguished scholar of Buddhism and Asian Culture. Prof. Satya Vrat Shastri, a highly renowned Sanskrit scholar, writer, grammarian and poet delivered the valedictory address, in which he congratulated the Bhavan for holding such a prestigious seminar having international dimensions and gave a brief exposition on the seminar topic. scholars and delegates from different countries were presented with mementoes by Prof. Satya Vrat Shastri.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of Kaustubh Award for Promotion of Original Writings in Sanskrit. Prof. Hari Krishna Satapathy, Vice Chancellor Sanskrit Rashtriya Vidyapeeth, Tirupati was selected for this prestigious award for his Sanskrit work 'Bharathayanam'. The Kaustubh Award comprised of a shawl, a scroll and a purse of 51,000/- and was presented by Prof. Satya Vrat Shashtri.
