Shortage of competent critics in the Kannada literary sphere has not only diluted the quality of Kannada writing but has also affected academic life, according to Dr. Veerappa Moily, MP and former central minister.
He was speaking after conferring the annual Prof. V. K. Gokak National Award 2014 on the renowned literary critic Dr. G. S. Amur and well-known poet Channaveera Kanavi at a function in Bhavan's ESV hall on September 7. The function was jointly organised by the Bhavan and the Vinayaka Gokak Vangmaya Trust.
Dr. Moily suggested the creation of a critics' forum or a workshop where certain standards could be fixed for one to look at literary or any criticism worth the name.
