Shri Surendralal Mehta with Principal and other Teachers
|
President of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Shri Surendralal Mehta, was given a warm welcome by Smt. Anila Mechur, (Principal, KVBVM, Pottore), Smt. Sindhu Menon, (Social Science Dept. KVBVM), Smt Lathadevi NB (Fine Arts, Bhavan's Poochatty) and Smt. Vasanthakumari M.P. (Social Science Dept., Bhavan's Poochatty), from the Thrissur Kendra. He humorously remarked that while the Kerala Bhavans were doing extremely well, it was also a land where a lot of questions and debates on issues had sprung up. He gave insights into the culture, the heritage and the tradition of not just the Bhavan, but also of India.
The underlying thread of the entire interaction was the concept of Sanathana Dharma, the basis of Indian culture, the ideals and the Bhavan. It is, according to Shri Mehta, a search for Truth, for Truth is God, and God is perceived as pure Energy.
Sanathana Dharma has always existed, and cannot be destroyed, as it has never been created. Problems in societies and communities arise from man-made thought and theses.
Shri Mehta spoke of the need for Sanskrit to be promoted, as it is a pure language that has been instrumental in binding the country, through the ancient texts and literature, and being the basis for most of the languages in the country. He urged for an unbiased interpretation of history, adding that teachers could refer to the work of Dr. K. M. Munshi.
