The Bhavan’s Mungalal Goenka Institute of Post-Graduate Studies and Research was established in 1939, for promoting post-graduate studies and research in Indology. The Institute is recognized by the University of Mumbai for courses of studies for Sanskrit and Ancient Indian Culture for M.A. and Ph.D. degrees.
The Institute publishes the Bhavan’s Indological Research Journal ‘Bharatiya Vidya’, and Sanskrit Journal ‘Samvid’, and three publication series namely ‘Bhavan’s Singhi Jain Series’, ‘Bhavan’s Bharatiya Vidya Series’, and ‘Bhavan’s Samvid Sanskrit Series’.

The Institute also conducts several endowment lectures, memorial lectures, seminars, lectures, talks, and workshops on Sanskrit and Indian culture from time to time.
The Institute conducts the Bhavan’s following short-term courses on Sanskrit and Indian culture, on regular basis:-
- Sanskrit Language Course (Elementary and Intermediate levels in English medium )
- Sanskrit Vyakarana Pravesha (as per Paninian tradition) in Hindi medium,
- Course on Shrimad-bhagavata-purana (in Hindi medium), and
- Course on ‘Gaudiya philosophical exposition of Bhagavata-purana’ in Hindi medium.
